In 1977, Benson was a rising star whose star had not risen to the level of Archbishop of Texas. He was just the "most leading brother" in the Church in Dallas who overstepped, exercising "extralocal authority" over the Andersons.

A clear example of double-standards that exist in the so-called recovery. Jane Anderson was considered an extra-local matter by Benson.
Yet, when John Ingalls and Ken Unger meet with Benson Phillips and Ray Graver concerning Phillip Lee, it's local matter. Blended brothers, spin it how you will. The end result is always hypocrisy.
