Default A Song (a bit late)

I wrote a song about our LC experience back in 2008 which I had almost forgotten about. I re-discovered it today and thought I'd post it. It was written just after the big quarantine. I may have posted it way back then -- can't remember -- and I'm embarrassed to post it now but, after listening to it today I felt the liberty to do so. It's my wife and me singing, playing.
Hope it benefits someone. I discovered Jeremiah 2:2-3 in that period. Kind of made me tear up to revisit those days. And yes, I do still love the Lord.

Thanks, Nell. I'm not on exactly the same page as many who comment here but we do share an experience on a particular path on the Way. I believe, for all the heartache and thorns we went through that it is part of the process the Great Potter has put us through and it will turn out to glory.

SC, my husband and I truly enjoyed your song. It’s been about 25 years since we’ve moved on from the Nee/Lee church, but after spending about 23 years there, immersed in mainly the lsm material, and after having been heavily involved in every aspect of the ‘church life’, of course, your heart-felt words resonated with us, and even caused our eyes to well up. Regardless of the wrongs committed there, and the methods instituted, and some errant teachings, which finally combined to push us out, and even though the ’recovery’ was and still is a stifling movement, nobody can take away the pure love for the Lord, and life commitment to Him that many of us experienced together. We may have been deceived through ignorance, maybe willfully, but many of us still have a sincere aspiration to live according to the Lord’s will, which we vainly thought, then, was privileged knowledge for only those ’on the proper ground.’ That system, along with its culture, its dictates, impositions, etc., gradually replaced our own personal seeking, and we saw the church’s first love also replaced with ambition and performance (generally speaking). I’m so glad you decided it was time to release ‘After all these years…’, which I have enjoyed sharing with others. Thank you.

Thanks SC. Loved the song. Each line brought back memories. I lived it all too. I have my stories.

Over the years I am so thankful for each brother or sister who helped to nudge my heart away from some blind zealotry back towards the Lord Himself. That alone made it all worthwhile in the midst of those painful trials.

Thanks again bro.

Thanks Dorasu and Ohio. We all view our LC experience from slightly different vantage points. It helps me to round out my assessment of my own experience by seeing from an angle I didn't quite have. It's been 14 years since I wrote that song. Looking back at it -- which was itself a look back -- brings up a host of feelings old and new.

My wife and I had the song "All the Way My Savior Leads Me" sung at our wedding in 1974 (three days after Nixon resigned which is completely irrelevant to this conversation but supplies you some context) and one line in the song always comes back to me: "All the way my Savior leads me / Cheers each winding path I tread." I can honestly say that remembering some of the bends in the road I was lead down are cheering to me, even the ones tinged with bittersweetness ... and maybe especially those bends. I have not left the central vision I saw back in the early 70's but I have definitely seen it in new light.
