What is Truth???

In the beginning of the ongoing series that’s featured on this site, there is a statement made by Minoru Chen that “everything needs to be tested according to the truth”. When I heard that statement for the first time, I had some flashbacks to my many discussions with members of the Local Church. It’s almost an immediate point of contention for those who are followers of the movement, and there isn’t a chance to even start a decent conversation. So what is TRUTH?

If I take that statement from MC as a ground by which were are to test things, I know exactly what he means by it since my many years in the group. You better believe it, it has nothing to do with truth, or even a desire to test it! If there are professional wordsmith experts that know how to get someone to fall for their tricks (except those in politics), they are all employees of LSM making six figures just to fool people into submission!

Let me quickly translate that statement into plain English: “Everything must line up to the ideologies and writings of Living Stream Ministry and Witness Lee, since we are the only source of truth on earth”. It’s a statement of convenience, and really not a true challenge to the members to seek the truth! It is to further ingrain their beliefs and opinions, keep business afloat, while seducing the most vulnerable of our society to conform to their own created version of highest truth, that represents nether of those things.

What say you?

Minoru Chen: “everything needs to be tested according to the truth”. Not true. The bible just says to "test" and search the scriptures and does not add "according to the truth". Why? In testing, Truth is yet to be determined. In Chen's world the test is to search within the predetermined scope of the LSM confines, as you have noted in your post. The following verses tell us to "test" and "search" wherever that may lead.

1 Thessalonians 5:21 Test all things; hold fast that which is good.

Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

In addition, the Bible commands to test, that is, ask questions. Asking questions in the Local Church world has always been forbidden...right?

I believe Chen's quote is only more circular LC double-speak.

My humble opinion,
Nell
