I know many of you are thinking "isn't the Shroud of Turin that Catholic relic that was proved to be a medieval forgery"? I used to think the same way until I did more research.

In John 20:25, the disciple Thomas demanded physical evidence of the resurrection and said “Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never believe.”

In honor of the upcoming Resurrection Sunday, I believe God may have actually left us with physical evidence of the resurrection by preserving the shroud of Turin. The radio carbon dating performed in 1984 that placed the shroud in 1300s was flawed because the sample was taken from a repair job of the cloth around that time. Furthermore recent X-Ray dating done on the shroud have placed it within the time that Jesus lived and research into the plant pollen and spores found on the shroud have been traced to Jerusalem, including plants that have been extinct well before the 1300s.

The shroud is remarkable because the image on shroud is rendered at the very tips of the micro fibers and we don't even have the technology today to produce this because ink bleeds through fabric. Furthermore scientists have found that the image is actually a photo negative, a hologram and an X-Ray with 3d information encoded in it via the dark and light patterns and have been able to reconstruct a 3d model of it. The coloring on the cloth fibers could have only been produced by a strong burst of uv radiation requiring an extraordinary amount of energy. Forensic evidence also deduces that the uv radiation is of a single wavelength meaning it is laser light and cannot be from a source like the sun which has a spectrum of wavelengths. The pattern on the shroud also shows that the body was moving since there is evidence of "frames" of movement showing that the body came alive. Hence the above is physical and archaeological evidence that Jesus resurrected.

Many researchers and scientists who join teams as skeptics to research the shroud to prove it as a forgery actually come to faith in Jesus due to the astonishing features found in the shroud and how consistent it is with New Testament descriptions.

Here's a video where an ex-skeptic and doctor of theology explains some of the astonishing details above including why the historical carbon dating was inaccurate:

Here's a video explaining how the image on the shroud shows that Jesus was actually moving:

This video goes into more detail on the 3d image captured on the shroud and how it is consistent with the New Testament:

I hope this will help anyone struggling with their faith. My own faith is weak, so like Gideon, I always want to see more physical evidence and reasons to believe which helps me to trust and obey Jesus.

Thanks BearBear,

We had an extremely interesting former poster here, a high school teacher using the moniker ZNPaaneah, who was very familiar with this Shroud of Turin. I believe his posts may be still archived? I was long skeptical of its authenticity until reading some of the overwhelming evidence which ZNP provided on the forum. Unfortunately ZNP was constantly monitored for going outside the forum guardrails, so he left. Word to the wise: you might want moderator approval to continue.

Actually bearbear is a longstanding and respected member of LCD, and like any forum member, does not need "moderator approval" to post on any legitimate topic. While the Shroud of Turin is not strongly connected to the teachings and practices of the Local Church of Witness Lee, this is Easter weekend and I see nothing about this that is too distracting from the general themes of the forum.

ZNPaaneah was an interesting fellow. Unfortunately, he was also constantly flaming and gaslighting other forum members on a regular basis. What our friend Ohio calls "going outside the forum guardrails" is actually breaking of forum rules (to say nothing of common Internet forum etiquette) and when ZNP was called out on his behavior (aka moderated) he became defiant and obstinate. It's been so long I've forgotten if I asked him to take a time out or if he just left of his own accord. In any event, he was not banned and still has open membership.

Sorry for the interruption bearbear. You can carry on if you'd like.

Thanks Ohio, I'll check out the previous posts on the shroud.

There's actually a $1m dollar challenge from a film maker David Rolf to anyone who can prove it was a forgery. He started as a skeptic of the shroud and but later came to faith in Jesus during his research for a documentary on it.

Asides for it being evidence for the resurrection, it also shows how much Jesus suffered to die on our behalf. Attached are images of the wounds including 372 scourge marks. It also shows that he likely had a broken nose due to having no arms available when he fell from carrying the cross. It makes me tear up knowing how much Jesus suffered for our sake.

Yesterday I read the passion in John’s Gospel from an old Recovery Version. WL’s outline titles are so cold and calloused without feeling. Our Lord brutally tortured and the heading says “Life Processed.” Totally void of empathy. Makes me sick to realize how we were taught about Jesus’ suffering for our sins. “Life Processed for our enjoyment.” I grew up on these doctrines. Now so pathetic.
