Default Verse of the Day

Proverbs 1:28-33
Then they will call upon me, but I will not answer; they will seek me diligently but will not find me. Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the LORD, would have none of my counsel and despised all my reproof, therefore they shall eat the fruit of their way, and have their fill of their own devices. For the simple are killed by their turning away, and the complacency of fools destroys them; but whoever listens to me will dwell secure and will be at ease, without dread of disaster.

I love this timely verse...on many levels. Hating knowledge and fearing Lee and “the brothers” instead of, or more than the Lord, has it’s own fruit. We see it everywhere.

The reward for fearing the Lord is everything we desire for ourselves and our families, in the place where we live.

Great verse! It's a jaw-dropper how many verses/stories/warnings in the Old Testament have such clear parallels to the LC. I have seen "the brothers" fearing unrighteous men rather than the righteous God one too many times. And don't get me started on the fact that they call knowledge "of death".

But as much as I've experienced a lot of pain from the LC, it still frustrates me that I am sad that they will "have the fill of their own devices". I wish there was something concrete that could be done to save them from having to eat the fruit of their way.

Hi Nell,
Thank you for seeing and expressing exactly the true condition of the people that LSM took advantage of and poisoned with its false teachings. In Vietnam, we are also taught to give up knowledge, not to have opinions, not to study the Bible, only simply accept the words of the ministry of the age. So we are not making the progress in our spiritual knowledge that the Lord can give.
LSM created an atmosphere that made the saints fear each other, watched each other in order to report back about us to the leaders of the LSM office in Vietnam, especially fear of the authority of the ministry of the age. We would to die silently on the cross, not thinking differently from the ideas of the LSM.
Hebrew 2:15 says that Lord Jesus: “might free those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives”. I think that people living under the yoke of slavery are often afraid of this man and that man. I have seen that when satan rules clearly, there is fear that envelops everyone, only when the Lord rules in His presence, the saints will have peace, rest and courage .

This morning my regular Bible reading was in Numbers 16 on Korah’s rebellion.

A cross reference led me to the book of Jude. The words of Jude are so impactful I wanted to copy and paste them in their entirety here (sorry, not “a verse of the day”), but many.

“Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to those who are called, sanctified by God the Father, and kept for Jesus Christ: May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.
Beloved, while I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I was constrained to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. For there are certain men who crept in secretly, even those who were long ago written about for this condemnation: ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into indecency, and denying our only Master, God, and Lord, Jesus Christ.
Now I desire to remind you, though you already know this, that the Lord, having saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who didn’t believe. Angels who didn’t keep their first domain, but deserted their own dwelling place, he has kept in everlasting bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day. Even as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, having in the same way as these given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are shown as an example, suffering the punishment of eternal fire.
Yet in the same way, these also in their dreaming defile the flesh, despise authority, and slander celestial beings. But Michael, the archangel, when contending with the devil and arguing about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him an abusive condemnation, but said, “May the Lord rebuke you!” But these speak evil of whatever things they don’t know. They are destroyed in these things that they understand naturally, like the creatures without reason. Woe to them! For they went in the way of Cain, and ran riotously in the error of Balaam for hire, and perished in Korah’s rebellion. These are hidden rocky reefs in your love feasts when they feast with you, shepherds who without fear feed themselves; clouds without water, carried along by winds; autumn trees without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; wild waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, for whom the blackness of darkness has been reserved forever.
About these also Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying, “Behold, the Lord came with ten thousands of his holy ones, to execute judgment on all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their works of ungodliness which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the hard things which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.” These are murmurers and complainers, walking after their lusts—and their mouth speaks proud things—showing respect of persons to gain advantage.
But you, beloved, remember the words which have been spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. They said to you, “In the last time there will be mockers, walking after their own ungodly lusts.” These are those who cause divisions and are sensual, not having the Spirit. But you, beloved, keep building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in God’s love, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life. On some have compassion, making a distinction, and some save, snatching them out of the fire with fear, hating even the clothing stained by the flesh.
Now to him who is able to keep them from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory in great joy, to God our Savior, who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen.”

John 16:32 Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
I am under anxiety and feel forsaken. This verse comes to me, and it encourages and strengthens me, for God the Father is with me.

That is a great comfort indeed!

Thanks for sharing it.

A verse a Christian Counselor shared with me to help me with anxiety is Psalm 3:3 https://biblehub.com/psalms/3-3.htm

Yet another verse I had to hear in “poor, poor, Christianity”, because I never heard it in the LC.
