Most of us are doing that to some extent.

The difference with Indiana is he is not interested in telling us why he is doing what he is doing, or what his final aim is. I think doing so should be considered an obligation. If somebody asked me why I do this I'd certainly do my best to make them clear.
Dear Igzy, have you ever read some of the nonsense that gets posted on the Alternative Views sub forum? Former members use this site as platforms to promote all kinds of new age vagaries. After just a few minutes there, ole' Indiana seems entirely innocuous, like a breath of fresh air, like pure mountain spring water.

I am not sure you would know a new age vagary if you met it face to face. Just because someone questions whether the Bible is errant or whether an orthodox fundamentalist doctrine is supported in the Bible or whether Christians should take up the white fundamentalist right wing Christian banner doesn't make them new age. Thanks for sharing what "a breath of fresh air" or "pure mountain spring water" looks like from your standpoint. It says a lot about you. But in line with what Igzy states I have never held back as to what I believe or practice in regards to social justice, for example, whether or not you might agree. Of course, you're fairly clear where you stand at least in regards to your belief. I have no idea what you practice---seems like a mystery.

You should learn how to be a little more tolerant of others' viewpoints, it would really help you mature; you have no idea how arrogant you come across sometimes on this board.

When did "social justice" become a defining characteristic on this forum?

Hey hey! Take a deep breath. There's fresh air in Alternative Views too. It's just me that's clueless ... but I'm entertaining. Come have some fun with us. Bro Timotheist has really got it going.

Default All Smack Talk belongs over here!

All smack talk, racial and political stuff posted on the main forum will be moved over here the second I see it. Or I can just delete it if you guys want me to handle it that way.

I am not exactly sure what you are referencing regarding "smack talk, racial and political stuff" but I would appreciate it if you would move derogatory comments made on the main forum about those who contribute to Alt Vw.

One of the reasons most of the followers of Jesus were the downtrodden, outcast, disabled etc was his message of hope for social justice whether it was the kingdom to come or the difficulty it would be for those who were rich to enter the kingdom of God. Time and again he would make it an equal playing field for the hopeless. The sermon on the Mount and many of his parables exemplified this message. This was one of the reasons Gandhi kept the Sermon on the Mount on his person most of his life.

A good bit of the "nonsense that gets posted on the Alternative Views sub forum" is the "nonsense" you believe.

This is great. My trouble is I don't know when I'm talking smack. Now I'll find out and know. This should be fun. Fresh meat.

Nonsense is not the same as "nonsense."

Context helps define the needed meaning.

But you knew that. That's why you're messing with me.

I'm just grateful someone else is drawing the fire.

For sometime now, after considering all that's in the Bible, I've entertained the possibly that the deeper we get into nonsense the closer we get to God, Biblically speaking. In fact, the very act, or even the notion, of blending with God will strike many as nonsense.

Wear it proud bro Ohio.

You're like the pot calling the kettle black.

"Oho!" said the pot to the kettle;
"You are dirty and ugly and black!
Sure no one would think you were metal,
Except when you're given a crack."

"Not so! not so!" kettle said to the pot;
"'Tis your own dirty image you see;
For I am so clean – without blemish or blot –
That your blackness is mirrored in me."

Yup! I'm the "fool" who still believes in the Biblical record.

Here's my theme song for AltViews ...
God's Own Fool by Michael Card

Seems I've imagined Him all of my life
As the wisest of all of mankind
But if God's Holy wisdom is foolish to man
He must have seemed out of His mind
For even His family said He was mad
And the priest said a demon's to blame
But, God in the form of this angry young man
Could not have seemed perfectly sane

Chorus:
When we in our foolishness thought we were wise
He played the fool and He opened our eyes
When we in our weakness believed we were strong
He became helpless to show we were wrong
So we follow God's own Fool
For only the foolish can tell
Believe the unbelievable, come be a fool as well

So come lose your life for a carpenter's son
For a madman who died for a dream
And You'll have the faith His first followers had
And you'll feel the weight of the beam
So surrender the hunger to say you must know
Have the courage to say I believe
For the power of paradox opens your eyes
And blinds those who say they can see

Chorus

So we follow God's own Fool
For only the foolish can tell
Believe the unbelievable, come be a fool as well!

Hi Ohio, I was wondering where this post went.

The difference is that Harold will answer questions. He might believe weird things, but he is open and upfront about what he believes and will engage and defend them. Indiana doesn't. My problem with him is only that he will not answer questions. I just don't think that attitude can work in a forum environment.

Harold answers questions?

He has been asked more than once what he actually believes, and he never answered.

So ... you prefer "open and upfront" posters who reject many items of the faith? Alt Views is filled with them. Stick around.

But debating on a forum may not be Indiana's gift.
