Default Regarding the postings by "Unregistered Guests"

There are a number of reasons that I set the Forum up so that "Unregistered Guests" are able to post.

#1 As an encouragement to current Local Church members to post. Some have taken advantage of this by posting in a "hit and run" fashion, and that's ok as far as I'm concerned.

#2 For those people who may be sitting on the fence, who may want to dialog with former members regarding the teachings, practice and history, yet remain as anonymous as possible.

#3 Interested third parties. These may be people who are relatives or friends of current Local Church members. They may be seeking information and/or advise regarding the LC movement.

From the opening module on the main page:"If you plan on making more then a few posts, we do recommend that you register". I wrote this specifically so as to discourage a person (in any of the 3 aforementioned categories) from taking advantage of the system by making a lot of posts as an "Unregistered Guest".

Admittedly, there are a number of people who are taking advantage of the system and making multiple posts as "Unregistered Guests". I have good reason to believe that some of these people are already registered members, but are choosing to post as an "Unregistered Guest". This is really testing my patience - it takes my time because every one of these posts has to be reviewed and approved by me before they appear on the forum. This is a safeguard within the forum software so that spammers and pornographers cannot have unfettered access to the forum threads.

There is actually a way for somebody to post as an unregistered person, yet still give themselves a temporary UserName. When these people post, there is a field there at the top for them to enter a UserName. I wish these people would at least put in a UserName so that everyone knows who they are. At some point I think I am going to require this for people who post as a guest for more then just a couple of times.

Dear Mod,

I have already stayed longer than I originally intended. If I have already exceeded the guideline of an unregistered guest then this will be my last post. Please accept my apologies.

Thanks for the instruction above. I was not aware that I could overwrite "unregistered". That makes sense to keep the "unregistered" guests distinct.

Oh there was no firm guideline. But then again I guess I never foresaw that so many different "Unregistered Guests" would post. It's kind of a good problem to have in a way.

So Cassidy, feel free to stick around.

It seems #3 is not a particularly important reason for allowing guests to post here since a moderator declined to allow my post regarding the ground of the church to appear yesterday. Fine with me. Just goes to show that this place is nothing more than an echo chamber.

Sorry about that. Looks like that one got past me. But I hope you're not expecting any more of a welcome from this post than you did the first one! Please consider registering. Registered members enjoy the convenience of having their posts appear immediately without the delay of having to be reviewed in the moderator queue. Also, you will be able to take advantage of the Private Messaging system where you can correspond with forum members offline.

Forgive my error in conceiving undue criticism of this forum you have.
My only expectation is the Word coming in flesh, welcome or not.
I have given no thought to registering, however, since you so cordially invite me to consider doing so, it might appear rude of me not to now.
