Default James Chu (NYC) -- With the Lord

Dear saints:

Our beloved brother, James Chu, went to be with the Lord yesterday afternoon very peacefully at 3:40pm. We thank the Lord for this gift given by the Head to His Body. We all can testify that he finished his course gloriously. The arrangements for the viewing, memorial meeting and interment are as follows:

Viewing:

There will be a viewing on Saturday, October 28, from 3:00-6:00pm at Stutzmann Funeral Home:
Address: 224-39 Jamaica Ave., Queens Village, NY 11428
Phone number: 718-465-3210
Memorial meeting:

The memorial meeting will be held on Lord’s Day, October 29, beginning at 1:30pm at the Jamaica Estates meeting hall of the church in New York City:
Address: 87-60 Chevy Chase St., Jamaica Estates, NY 11432
Phone number: 718-454-1826
Lunch will be provided after the church meeting in the morning and before the memorial meeting.
Interment:

The interment will take place on Monday, October 30. Those attending will meet at Stutzmann Funeral Home at 9:00am and then proceed together to Pine Lawn Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY.

We invite you to join us to celebrate the life of the Lord Jesus in our beloved brother who was a pattern and a supply to us all for so many years.

In Him,
The serving brothers in the church in NYC

The memorial meeting (earlier today) is viewable here: https://livestream.com/Cnycjamaica/e...deos/165142630

James Chu was a long-time LC elder in New York City, along with Benjamin Chen and Ed Righton. He was notable as an "opposer" of Witness Lee and LSM after the late 1980s. He appeared to move more toward LSM leaders toward the end of his life. Speakers in the meeting include a number of LSM coworkers: Benson Phillips, Ed Marks, Rick Scatterday, Paul Wu, Ronnie Chan, Gerald Chan.

Why would editors from a book publisher fly to NYC for a funeral service?

Why wouldn't the other elders and local saints who knew him day-to-day for decades not speak instead?

Does the church really need long-winded messages at funerals?

Wait, how in the world was an opposer allowed to remain an elder of so large a church for decades? Where is all that control you keep talking about?

The BBs waited for him to die, and now it appears they are consolidating their takeover.

Wait for him to die? You forgot to address the fact he turned back, even giving a confirming word at the last conference in White Plains. This after decades of having a podium from which to speak out against Witmess Lee and WL's ministry, and he did so on occasion. He didn't use the recovery version or ministry materials, and no one else there was required to, yet his church was still considered a local church on the ground of the church.
