God the Father was revealed and declared to us through God the Son, Jesus Christ – “He has declared Him”. One of the meanings of declare is to acknowledge. Jesus Christ acknowledged the Father by His Person AND by His work. Christ’s very Person declared, defined and expressed the very Person and attributes of God the Father, and His work verified and confirmed that He was sent by the Father “for the works which the Father has given Me to accomplish--the very works that I do--testify about Me, that the Father has sent Me.” (John 5:36) Of course the ultimate culmination of His work was His sacrificial death upon the cross (“It is finished”) The ultimate culmination of His declaring, defining and expressing the Father was His glorification in resurrection and ascension to the Father. “I came forth from the Father and have come into the world; I am leaving the world again and going to the Father” (John 16:28) Even the disciples, who had been with the Lord Jesus for several years, did not seem to comprehend this monumental declaration. Praise God. Now we have a much clearer view. The Son of God came into the world as a little baby, born of a virgin girl. The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.
What kind of God is this, who from dust his image made When the enemy came to steal yet in flesh his image save What kind of God is this, What kind of Name is this,What kind of God is this, bestowed upon just a child Could this be the Mighty God through whom sinners reconciled What kind of Name is this, What kind of Man is thisWhat kind of Name is this whose voice calms the raging sea Whose hand is so quick to heal and from sin the captives freed What kind of Man is this, What kind of King is this,What kind of life He lived who love and mercy has shown Who chooses to rule in our hearts, not just from his lofty throne What kind of Lord is this What kind of praise shall we Gloria In Excelsis Deo!
