The Witness Lee Mind Control Method
Hi all,
I think maybe I'm onto the Witness Lee Mind Control Programme (WLMCP). I was thinking about a Holy Word for Morning Revival I saw once, and it kept repeating a word or a phrase. I noticed this and started counting. There were like 8 times, like 12 or 13 if you counted the parallel phrases he used to reinforce it. It was the old, "I'm gonna tell you what I'm gonna tell you, then I'm gonna tell you, then I'm gonna tell you what I told you" - a good teaching tool, to be sure. And besides, he gets paid by the word, right? So he keeps repeating himself. But then I remembered how in the meeting there was this cadence, like "duh-duh-duh -BLAH (amen), duh-duh-duh- BLAH (amen)". So all that repetition was built into the oral delivery, and the editors couldn't really edit it away, because that was what he was doing. And when you combine that with the whole pray-reading thing. You'd take a word, and put in some kind of filler, like "O Lord Jesus BLAH (amen)" and everyone would pray like that. You'd pick some word from the Bible, like 'blue', and you'd go, "Amen Lord Jesus BLUE (amen), Praise the Lord BLUE (amen), Hallelujah BLUE (amen)" So this kind of rhythmic performance became its own vehicle to God, of sorts. And if you rocked back and forth on your heels, or pumped your fist, this was even better. You were ostensibly even more connected to God. So you'd get this euphoria by repetitive shouting, speaking, amenning, and you'll lock into the 'special words' that the minister was speaking, and then people would get up and testify, using the same cadence and words, or they'd line up at the mic during the training, and try to mimic the speaker, thinking this was getting them "more God". But where does it say that putting your fist horizontal to the ground is exercising yourself to Godliness? I was told, "Exercise your spirit" but where does Paul's word in 1 Timothy 4:7,8 suggest heel-rocking and neck-rolling is what he's after? Even Jesus said, "Don't do the vain repetition of the Gentiles" when you pray. This is starting to look exactly like that. A vehicle to trap the subject into a suggestible state. People would even testify of this: "I got wrecked, ruined". Boy don't you know it. Repetitive shouting, fist pumping, heel rocking, and your Christian voyage got shipwrecked by the hidden reefs. You got jobbed, merchanidised.

Re: The Witness Lee Mind Control Method
Another stand-by is "I was in spirit on the Lord's Day". But again, where does "in spirit" mean "amen-amen-BLAH (amen)" or "O Lord Jesus - BLAH (amen)", or "Praise the Lord - BLAH" (amen)"? That's just conditioned thoughtlessness. That "get out of your mind, get into your spirit" is a formula not based on scripture. Even Paul said that he prayed with his mind exercised, cf 1 Cor 14:14-19, in contrast with the Corinthians who apparently thought that group hysteria was akin to godliness.

And yet, Lee teaches it as the only way. The unique way. The requirement. He thinks something can be built using the very way scripture says is unedifying (doesn't build). His teachings are riddled with errors!!! |

Then he gave us a demonstration of how to do this. He took a step, and said "Oh." Took another step, and said "Lord." Then another, "Jesus." and then, "Amen." Repeat. Seriously?
