Question Christ Living through His Believers as the Best ____?

Something a brother said awhile back on here has kept coming to me since then. I made a comment in a post like, "Christ is the best husband in me!" This person questioned that comment and asked something like, "Where in scripture does it say Christ is a husband in you!?" Then the thread quickly moved on to something else and his question wasn't addressed - so here it is bro!

What I was referring to to is based upon these simple convictions I hold:
1. Christ lives in me
2. Christ loves my wife better than I do
3. Therefore if I let Him, Christ can live through me to make me the best, most loving husband to my wife!

Is there anything wrong with this reasoning and do you think it is supported in scripture? (I think it is most amply supported in scripture!)

Nothing wrong with your comment. Maybe grammatically “Christ in me helps me to be the best husband” is a bit clearer, but that’s a stretch. I think you’re being “snookered”.

I’ve noticed lately a bit of ...ummm...snookering...going on. (Oh no! Not that! Here?) Oh yes! Snookering! Here. Say it ain’t so! (You know who you are... .)

If/when, in your tripartite being, you become embroiled in a discussion that becomes a real hair-splitter, you may get a sneaky feeling (emotion) that you’re being snookered. Alas..you probably are.

Don’t think that snookering doesn’t go on here. No no no no no! Snookerers are lurking everywhere and they are up to no good (soulish). They want to start a food fight with their target Snookeree. Just one tiny misplaced modifier and BOOM! You’re toast.

The Snookerer must have the last word in a snooker session. (This is a big clue.) They will find “fault” that isn’t a “fault” in ANY discussion by splitting the tiniest hair...taking the discussion down a bunny trail. Snookerers will defend the indefensible and argue all sides of an issue...just like a lawyer. Snookerers may even be DCP.

Unsuspecting Snookerees will be worded to death until you want to throw up your hands and run screaming from your keyboard. Or you might just want to plain ol’ throw up. If ever you find yourself on your knees, hugging the porcelain, then...you’ve been snookered.

I hope this helps.

How about II Corinthians 11.3 or Isaiah 54.5

Yes, Christ loves our wife better than we do. He also loves our children better than we do. And he loves our boss and our neighbors better than we do too.

I'm afraid that "Letting Christ live through me", while sounding very spiritual and downright altruistic, may be short circuiting the very thing God wants the most..for us to be transformed into the image of his Son. Our wives already have a Savior that loves them They already have a Lord who loves them. What they need is a husband who loves them as Christ loves them - sacrificing for them - body, soul and spirit. Every day. In every way. The bible tells us how we can love our wives. It's right there for us in black and white. So if what you mean by "letting Christ live through me" means taking out the garbage, working overtime to buy a nicer car or take a vacation to her favorite spot, or letting her go buy whatever clothes she's been dying for, then I'm with you all the way!

Ha ha -interesting (and fun) take on that! So you think I was being snookered, eh? Could be. At the time I took the question at face value, but what you said made some sense about the MO of the person asking that question - lots of bunny trails and dodges, with a measure of blaming thrown in on several occasions.

The Isaiah reference is good, but not sure how the 2 Corinthians one applies . . .

I don't understand what it is that you are referring to which might sound "very spiritual and downright altruistic . . . short circuiting the very thing God wants the most..for us to be transformed into the image of his Son." I actually agree to both the first thing (being transformed into His image) and the last thing (doing things for your wife), if that makes sense!

Hadn't know the exact definition of a troll before, but there it is!

If yer old enough, you may remember collecting those things!

So is it safe for me to say that the good folks on here agree with the three things I posted?

1. Christ lives in me
2. Christ loves my wife better than I do
3. Therefore if I let Him, Christ can live through me to make me the best, most loving husband to my wife!

And the point is, He is the best at any relationship I have - not just with my wife.
