Default Digital copy of "Fermentation of the Present Rebellion"?

Does anyone have a PDF of this? Can you post a link or post the contents of it here?

I'm also interested in why the title uses the word "Fermentation" instead of "Fomentation." It seems like a deliberate play on words by Lee, but I didn't think he was that clever.

In case you are interested, a hard-copy of that book is for sale at this link.

Hope that helps.

I have wondered this same thing. My guess is that Witness Lee could neither hear nor pronounce a distinction between 'foment' and 'ferment', and either the editors didn't pick up on it, thought it was deliberate, or were too timid to correct him. I agree that was not his particular form of subtlety or cleverness.

I found a copy on my ministry shelf a year or so ago and threw it away along with a number of other LSM books, but now I wish I hadn't.

I heard Lee at least once (in a conference or training) “complain” about John Ingalls, in John’s presence. Lee mockingly repeated John’s words “that’s not good English”. The exchange was funny, and was meant to be funny. I have no doubt that John did correct Lee’s written English. When “The Fermentation” was written, John was obviously gone, and Lee’s editors didn’t correct his “bad English.”

Another thing to consider is that Lee may not have chosen the word “Fermentation”. Lee wasn’t a writer. He was a speaker. Volunteers would edit the transcripts of his spoken messages, or dictated transcripts, etc. Regardless, “fermentation” is correct, but “fomentation” is “better English” .

I have seen it online but unsure where. There's a Ukrainian website with 'authorized' and 'unauthorized' WL books, but I can't remember the name.

I read it in hard copy, back in the day. The author WL was not in a good light. It was scandalously bitter and vituperative, with language that would make a sailor blush. That's my memory of it. I was hardcore for the so-called recovery, and when I read it my dreams of a glorious church life took quite a blow.

Regarding the title, I always associated it with leaven. Something grows quietly in the dark, spoils the whole batch. Like a fungus, or mold. Instead of growing in the light, it spreads in the dark.

And as usual Lee would paint others with the same brush he held. Like "divisive" - who was more divisive than Lee, or Nee for that matter? Nee took over Leland Chang's meeting hall. Or "ambitious" - who was more ambitious than Nee, or Lee? Read MEB's letter to Panton. It's all cut from the same cloth.

What most folks need to know about WL's evil book could simply be extrapolated from this sequence of pages IMHO:

But to get the complete picture about the twisted facts presented inside 'Fermentation', I would recommend spending time on reading or listening to John Ingalls' book here. That book exposes the evil inside 'Fermentation' and the harm done to innocents in a very thorough and gentlemanly manner. It truly is Speaking The Truth In Love!

Now if you really have an appetite for consuming "Lee-Bot" garbage, check out this book by Ron Kangas (read at your own risk).

Hope this helps.

PriestlyScribe,

Thank you for sharing those images. Fascinating and disturbing stuff. I have read the entirety of Speaking The Truth In Love and found it a compelling narrative.

I'm not sure about the link to the book you shared—it seems like it's from India and I'm not sure to trust the site. If you do happen to have an entire PDF of "Fermentation of the Present Rebellion," I would be grateful to have it. But I understand that scanning and extracting images from an entire book is a lot of work.

aron and Recovering,

I have also wondered whether the title is a deliberate homophone, a pun, that is related to describing the fermentation of something as related to mold growing on bread in the dark, as you suggested. Who knows? I think it is definitely a possibility Witness Lee could neither hear nor pronounce a distinction between 'foment' and 'ferment'.

Nell,

Interesting story about Lee's "complaint" of John Ingalls. Having heard many recordings of Witness Lee in my youth—they were constantly played in the family home—I know that he was certainly able to mimic a sense of humor in a performative context. I don't believe that people like Lee actually have real senses of humor, because to have a sense of humor requires a person to have empathy. And I don't know that Lee actually possessed real empathy.

Default "Why do Flying Monkeys BELIEVE a Narcissist??"

The video below has everything to do with Fermentation of the Present Rebellion. That Living Stream Ministry publication was nothing but a smear campaign.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MaY-czubqRA

Those who object to Speaking the Truth In Love being read are merely objecting to the other side of the story being told.

Once you do read it, "Now you know the rest of the story"!

That video helped me to understand the mindset of the hundreds of elders & co-workers who did not challenge Witness Lee's lies during the 1989-1990 smear campaign. Sure, there was immense peer pressure to just let Lee speak lies - who would dare to challenge MOTA and retain their current "standing"? Fear was no doubt quite thick in those Fermentation meetings.

The best thing about this video to me is that it provides a label for those men who took part in "Fermentation" and who either remained silent or said Amen - ENABLERS!

The video also had some great advice in how to deal with such.

Thanks Terry!

PriestlyScribe, I recall Witness Lee once said every local church should be a police station. Really? No, the brothers don't want that. They want localities full of enablers and that's what they have. Not just brothers, but sisters too.
One can be privately very opinionated, but when it comes to peer pressure and what the brothers say, they yield.
I've seen some of the names of brothers who signed off on the quarantine. Some I knew at various degrees from Bellevue, Washington and from San Bernardino, California. What were you brothers thinking is a question I've had in my mind for decades. Only reasonable response is it's a by-product of natural affection for Witness Lee. Either that or as you said, Fear was no doubt quite thick in those Fermentation meetings."

Yes WL did actually say that, and reading those words at the time they made some kind of sense to my befuddled mind.

However, many years later, after studying John Ingalls book in depth and coming face to face with WL's evil behaviors, I realized that WL was really talking about establishing his own "praetorian guard" private secret police force. In order to maintain power over his empire like every other tyrant in world history, needed his private police force composed of loyal enablers. To WL evil deeds were anything that got in the way of his rule.
