Default 2024 LC Discussions Forum: Everyone Please Read

Note to forum members, guests, “lurkers”, and all others interested in discussing the Local Church of Witness Lee.

The forum Mission Statement is posted prominently on the front page. Hopefully you will take this admonition to review this statement and observe its provisions as you post your thoughts and interact with others who come here for discussion. This forum is moderated in order to support the established and advertised mission. What does that mean?

Moderate, adjective
* Being within reasonable limits; not excessive or extreme.
* Not violent or subject to extremes; mild or calm; temperate.
* Of medium or average quantity or extent.

Moderate, not punish

From time to time a “food fight” will break out, regardless of our attempts to calm the waters. We don’t leave it to our “poster children” to determine what is condescending and what isn’t; what is “bashing” and what isn’t.

It’s important to remember that you are a guest in someone else’s house. You are free to post your thoughts and feelings---as long as you stay within the guidelines of the forum Mission Statement. As Christians we are held to a higher standard. As a Christian, you have the tools to moderate yourself. We ask that you practice self-moderation...prayer maybe?

Whether you’re an LC “innie” or “outie” you are here because you have an opinion about generally two matters:
1. the teachings and doctrines of Witness Lee, and,
2. your personal experiences while you were a functioning, active member of the Local Church. Good or bad.

You may have believed you were following the Lord and discovered you were not. Instead, you discovered you were following the man, Witness Lee...and were not allowed to question him or his ways. You may still believe that following Lee IS following the Lord. Either way, that is your opinion which you cannot force upon others.

However, just as Witness Lee’s interpretation of scripture is just that…his interpretation, his opinion; the same is true with everyone who posts here. Your opinion about Lee’s interpretation is yours. Others may or may not agree with you. That is each one’s liberty. It is not the purpose of this forum to come to agreement on Lee, et al. The purpose is to discuss. That is, to respectfully discuss. You may agree or disagree with what you read, but in your disagreement, you may not convey disrespect and/or sarcasm (which is by nature disrespectful.)

In the Local Church of Witness Lee, discussion of problematic matters is not tolerated. We all know this. ("Don't say anything negative", "a question mark (?) is in the shape of a serpent") That is, discussing what we were hearing from the man we had dedicated our lives to, Witness Lee, was not tolerated.

We were not allowed to ask questions on penalty of shunning, and other forms of "discipline". Pointing out the obvious faults of Witness Lee’s person, his behavior, doctrines and teachings was not allowed. This forum exists to discuss what Witness Lee and his subsequent followers do not allow. We are not a one-way website in the pattern of shepherdingwords.org where your input is not possible.

Again, you may agree or disagree with what is said on this forum, but you are not allowed to make disparaging, disrespectful remarks toward others. You will be moderated.

If you have questions about this message, the Mission Statement, or anything else, send a PM to your Admins: UntoHim and Nell.
