Blatant Lies your LC has told you.
I'll get the ball rolling with something I've been told numerous times by saints whenever I question the Recovery Bible/the footnotes and why a single man, WL, is to be trusted as a single source. You don't (or at least you shouldn't) trust a single news outlet for stories when you're researching for a paper. Yet, why should we trust a single man with all of our supplemental readings and bible footnotes, and "messages", etc.
The answer I am given when I have asked specifically about the Recovery footnotes, I am told: "It wasn't written by Witness Lee. It was written by many brothers from across the country who have studied the bible for decades." From LSM website: "The Recovery Version of the Bible was translated and revised by the Editorial Section of Living Stream Ministry from 1974 to 2003. The Recovery Version of the Bible contains numerous study aids, including, the subject and background of each book; detailed, interpretive outlines; enlightening footnotes, valuable cross-references, and a variety of useful charts and maps. All of these study aids were written by Witness Lee, who received much help from the writings of noted Bible expositors throughout church history, including his co-worker, Watchman Nee." ^LSM itself admits the footnotes were written by Witness Lee. And to most saints they are completely comfortable with that. For those who question it, like myself, you are given a simple answer of "well actually it was written by a lot of people, who worked together on it, etc." Not sure if anybody else has heard this "explanation" as well?
