It really is a sickness. The LCM has no self-correction mechanism. I've said before they are like the bomber pilots in "Fail Safe." There is no "turn back" message they will or even can receive. They are on mission for a dead guy, who, ironically, is probably wherever his is now jumping up and down and yelling "Stop! I was wrong!"
