Blame it on Satan
Quote:
Hi all, I think I might be out of thread topic here, but this whole idea of the Recovery to blame everything on satan, is purely laughable. I long ago realized that the people who use this technique of “satan made me do it” or “satan attacked me”, just plainly and bluntly state that “nothing in life is a result of my own making, choosing, and planted seeds”. Satan is a scapegoat for all of their failures that they won’t ever admit to. It’s also very interesting when they are dealing with the issues of this kind, that are most likely are products of their own, they will say that it’s “a trial and tribulation, or just satan is after them”. But if it would happen to you or I, or everyone that left the movement or even dared to say something about them, “it’s God punishment for the evil they’ve done against Gods move on earth”. Maybe both of those man in this tread should look in the mirror more often, and I don’t mean physically or maybe both. The other thing that made me chuckle, was when the guy had to add this comment in and said, “when Ron says he is resting in the Lord, Ron is resting in the lord it’s a reality to him”. As if Ron has some special buddy status unlike any of us regular joes can enjoy. He had to go out of the way to point that out. You just have to laugh sometimes at the way these men think of themselves and how important they are. |

I noticed the "resting in the Lord, reality to him" thing too. The fact that they had to tell people twice, like "no, really, you gotta trust me, what I'm telling you is true"......I have half a feeling that that might mean it's not really quite true. Ron has stood on stage blustering very, very proudly about "opposers" who were no longer alive, and then self-satisfiedly proclaiming that "we are still here!!!" As if his continued existence is supposed to be proof of his rightness. I dunno....what do you even say about that kind of mindset? Trapped P.S. Welcome, unreg!! |

This "blame it on Satan" matter has always bugged me too. God Himself addressed this matter with His enemy, Satan. Job 1:12 And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, all that he (Job) has is in your power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord. So, in the book of Job, Satan challenges God regarding Job. Satan has a lot of power, but is not allowed to put Job to death. You have well made this point in your post. Then, in the new testament, Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Death has been called "the great equalizer". To blame Satan for "attacks", IMHO, is to give him more credit than he deserves. It also denies the hand of God working in our lives to bring us to repentance, get our attention, and even to minimize the fact that, at some point, all will die. It's used as a diversionary tactic. Then there's this: Psalm 116:15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. Psalm 116 is a beautiful, comforting Psalm, showing us who God is. There are times when Satan attacks. But when that's the "go to" explanation is "blame it on Satan", that's a problem. How would God correct the course of WLee, et al? The implication is that they are never wrong. Nell |
