I am from Fremont, California, and I served in the US Army from 2006 to 2011 as a military intelligence analyst and deployed to Iraq twice. My first tour was 15 months long from December 2007 to February 2009, and my 2nd tour was from June 2010 to May 2011.

My twin brother joined the Lords Recovery in spring 2009 from the Christians on Campus Group at San Jose State and started meeting with the Church in San Jose When I was on leave, I went to my first church meeting on 1/3/10 before returning to Hawaii, but I did not go to a local church meeting in Hawaii before deploying to Iraq almost 6 months later. I left the Army in August 2011 and started meeting with the Church in San Jose.

Then in August 2013, I transferred to Texas A&M University and met with the Church in College Station. I graduated in May 2017 and moved to Houston shortly after for my job. I met with the Church in Houston and lived with 3 or 4 brothers in an apartment. I was unexpectedly laid off in July 2018, and I spent 4.5 months looking for a new job before landing a job in Austin in late November 2018. I moved to Austin in January 2019 and have continued to meet with the Church in Austin.

I discovered this website in January 2018 and became curious about why some Local Church members leave, including many church kids. I had posted on a threat about finding a good church in Austin because I felt burdened to share the link to the Church in Austin. I plan on staying in the Local Church for life, but I am open to discussions.

Interesting story. Did you "fellowship with the brothers" about your moves, or did you just move where the jobs were? And if the latter, did you ever have the sense that you had slightly less status because you moved of your own volition? I don't mean status as in importance, but in there being something not quite the same that you couldn't put your finger on. Like there was an ever so slight distrust.

One sister reminded me to apply to Texas Department of Transportation in early November 2018. So, I decided to apply there after spending over 3.5 months searching for jobs. I had 9 interviews but received no offer. When I was living in Houston, my church would have prayer meetings in districts, which were held in the homes. Every week, the saints asked about my job situation and prayed for me. We had corporate prayer meetings on the first Wednesday of every month.

I honestly believe that the Lord arranged me to live and work in Austin. Romans 8:28: And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.
