Yes - that was just so much legalism. As I go on, I'm realizing more and more that there is no eternal impact of these kinds of outward restrictions. As it says in Colossians 2:23,
"These are matters which do have the appearance of wisdom in self-made religion and humility and severe treatment of the body, but are of no value against fleshly indulgence." How much value? Zilch!
As it says just a few verses later, only the operation of Christ in us can really change a person, as we yield to His inner leading - that's our only hope of glory!
