The words "legitimate", as well as "proper" and "genuine", are soooo loaded. Basically it means, "Whatever we are doing." And if you catch them with their hand in the proverbial cookie jar, you know, being improper and illegitimate, they essentially shrug and say, "Hey, nobody's perfect." I mean, we're all sinners, right? Only God is perfect. So what's the big deal?
And this is from a group whose only existence is derived from the illegitimacy of everyone else.
