Instead, when they came together there was "much discussion" - some versions render it "dispute" or "debate". I don't see this as a bad thing, but part of the process of going forward together. The author of Acts doesn't cast it negatively, but intrinsic to the group going forward together.

One neat thing about Acts 15 also is that the whole church in Jerusalem was present to hear the discussion. This wasn't a "how dare you ask any questions, how dare you know what's going on, how dare you want to know how a situation is handled" thing like the co-workers' screed from their recent Q&A site. There was a big debate in the church and everyone was involved, not kept in the dark.
