Default Re: History, Not Hagiography - "Great Leap Forward" "The God-Ordaned Way" T

Speaking of Hagiography: I recall Witness Lee saying with fondness that he kept a picture of Watchman Nee on a table next to his bed. He also considered that when Watchman Nee spoke God was speaking, and he was “a minister of the age, akin to Noah and Moses. Now I’ve heard on these boards that the blendeds have been keeping Witness Lee’s apartment unaltered from the day he died as something of a shrine to his life.

Such hagiography goes way too far to me in that it replaces Jesus Christ as Lord, king, and head of the body with a fallen human being. Does god speak through fallen human beings? Absolutely, that is how He chooses to deliver the gospel (through preachers, plural not singular). Making one preacher “minister of the age” is akin to anointing a Pope... infallible representative of God. Yes, I’m saying what has been said many other times on this board.

But, I also am repenting of falling into the same trap. I once put Watchman Nee and Witness Lee on a pedestal to the point of replacing Jesus Christ as my Lord and savior with them and made being like them my goal and hope instead of being like Jesus. Oh Lord, pleases forgive me of my sin!
