Trapped, I'm sorry about your childhood. I hope you find soon that God has worked all things for your good, and how everything you have experienced can become part of who you are NOW in a positive, life-giving way.

As for minding the Spirit, it simply means being conscious of the life and peace within at some level. It's sort of like sitting in a room working and at some level being conscious of the coolness of the air conditioning, or of the soft music in the background. You don't think about it every second, but it's there and at some level you know it. God is able to guide us through the Spirit's life and peace even when our minds are very engaged doing something else. He just made us that way. He's very creative.
