Many of us here in Scottsdale don't use the Recovery Version with footnotes any more for daily reading (if they use the RV at all) just because of that. I find the Lord speaks to me more readily by just desiring the pure milk of the word. At times I might go to a version with footnotes and also other commentaries, but if I ask, the Lord is faithful to supply the answer and true meaning. Sometimes it takes a little patience as the answer doesn't come right away. (But sometimes it does!)
If one goes to anything other than the Lord and His word first, their thinking can definitely be strongly influenced (and they may not even be aware).
