Re: A New Book: Regarding the Ground of Oneness in Locality
Very interesting thoughts! I've believed the basis for OCOC to be a good one, as why make any other distinctions among believers than the locality? But anything taken past the point of love is too far! (and should be dropped it it becomes a stumbling)
As the bros were fellowshiping around breakfast this morning, something came out from a brother that really resonated with me. He said that he believes that at the Bema it will come down to God looking for two key things: how did you handle Christ (the gift of grace that's been given you) and how did you handle others around you in the ekklesia? This is all a matter of love, and Paul tells us in very simple terms that all else, including prophesy and knowledge, will fail. But love remains.
I'd rather have love than light. While I really get excited and like to see something in scripture (and also usually get puffed up by it), I'm learning love is the very tops.
So what if the knowledge of OCOC is the best light concerning the practical unity of the church? This knowledge will fail. It will be found wanting when measured against simple agape love.
