Default Re: Praise/Worship Song of the Day! Turn Up Your Speakers!

Some songs using English translations of Bernard of Clairvaux’s 10th century Latin verse have been mainstays of Christian hymn books since the 18th century, and survive to this day to encourage us. Here’s one:

Jesus, Thou Joy of Loving Hearts
Written by Bernard of Clairvaux
Translated by Ray Palmer

Sung by Red Mountain Church

Old LCers will recall this one from “Hymns” published by Living Stream Ministry.

I like this song a lot, but would edit the last two stanzas to be in the affirmative Christ is doing these things, vs praying that they be so. Might have been the Roman Catholic influence showing in Bernard’s verse.

Sad he was venerated as a “Saint” by Rome, instead of following his example to venerate the Lord as “all in all”.

Hmmm, why does this veneration practice seem so familiar? Oh, I got it. Nee venerated M.E. Barber. Lee venerated Nee. Blendeds venerate Lee.

Doh! Stop it JJ! This is a Praise Area!
