Sometimes I think...the Lord led me to the LC (as well as many of us) was to learn how to be built up and how to build up/how to edify the body of Christ, the saints...then once we 'got it', moved us out and spread us out so we could teach or at least practice what we've learned...that is to build up the Body of Christ.
That is the reason I go 'to church'...so I can see who the Lord might lead me to minister, to build up. Many people 'understand' WE, the congregants are the Body of Christ..we 'are the church'...but don't have the vision from the Holy Spirit on how to Build up one another in Christ.
It can seem to discouraging to some who were given this vision in the LC back in the day...but our first and foremost focus is Christ and His Word.
Our Precious Lord Jesus and His Holy Spirit will lead us to those we ought to lift up, to edify. It may be only for a short time we connect but if we're Obeying His Leading then the result will be gold, silver and precious stones...not wood, hay and stubble.
