You make a good point. Saying "God is spirit" and saying "there is a Holy Spirit" aren't the same things. If they were, then we could just say that the Father is the Holy Spirit and be done with it.
But that's not really saying anything more than "The Father is God, and the Holy Spirit is God, and since there is only one God they must be the same thing." At
some level that might be true, but if that's all there is to it then why does the Bible reveal a Son who relates to the Father as if they are different persons? And why does the Son speak of the Spirit as if he is a different person?
I never get tired of speculating about the Trinity. But in the end I have to admit I can't know for sure what I'd like to know. So I have to go with what I do know, and continue to wonder.
