At first it was loyalty to sitting in the front row shouting the name of Jesus, along with the amens and hallelujahs. We didn't pay too much attention to all the "poor Christianity" and "degraded Christianity" and "fallen religion" and "devilish Christianity" and "Babylon" and "daughters of the harlot". But gradually "God has saved me from the world" meant "Christianity" as much as it meant anything else. "I'll never go back anymore" became aimed at "religion" as much as the fleshly life.
And when the fun ran out, our brains had become pickled. When the "charisma" dried up and our meeting lives became forced and rote and functional, at Tuesday night prayer meeting and Friday night college meeting and Saturday night home group meeting, all we had left was allegiance to "I'll never go back anymore".
The reason we got divorced was because we got married. We should have remained pure virgins for Jesus. But we got betrothed to a cause, an organization, a "process of recovery". So we made our bed, then we had to sleep in it (Rev 2:22). For a while anyway.
Again, we are supposed to be a separated people. From the world, from sin, from selfish living. We died with Christ and rose with Him too. We are not supposed to be separated from each other. Yet the very premise of the "recovery" predicated itself on this.

WOW Aron!
What a fantastic post!!! I was only in the LC for 4-5 yrs in the mid-late 70s and you took me back to the meetings of yonder old. It is amazing Lee was able to get the local churches to shout, to Fist-pump etc.. and for much of the time,
it was fun. Not always though.
We stood out from among the rest of Christianity and had Lee not -controlled- the church but had let the SPIRIT lead us, teach us and guide us, 'building up' one another in Love which is IN GOD, IN Christ, through His Spirit, the LC may not have turned into the stinky mess it turned into.
Had Lee been careful not to put the LC, ahem, himself above Christianity, who knows how God would have used us within the parameters of '
the church'.
Lee did not permit us to search the scriptures for ourselves. He did it for us or else

That is why our brains became pickled. They were saturated with Lee juice...not Yeshua's Spirit.
And to that end...I'll never go back anymore....to Lee's LSM, LRC, to that cause, to that process of recovery or whatever that
organization is now called.
However, my allegience is to EL-SHADDAI, The Father, the Son and the Spirit. I have no choice.

He is
in me and I
in Him...still looking for the city Whose Builder and Maker is GOD. And looking forward to the day we will hear the Shout, the Voice of the Archangel, and the Trump of GOD..the day in which in a twinkling of an eye we will put on our Glorious, incorruptible bodies. Amen? Amen.
Come Lord Jesus.
Blessings to all,
