I completely agree with this idea. The revelation of God's inspired Word is right in front of us, but we were like little children playing with tinker toys.

Which is okay; Einstein had a 'tinker toy' phase, as did Niels Bohr and John von Neumann. But they pressed on, 'forgetting the things which were behind' them, and 'stretching forward' to what lay in front of them. The journey beckoned them, and compelled them recklessly onward. They spent everything to uncover their idea of truth. Will we Christians approach the Bible with the same attitude?

As I have written elsewhere, the blendeds have contented themselves with being curators in the Witness Lee Museum. Fine. The so-called 'deviants' Dong Yu Lan and Titus Chu are arguably 'doers of Lee and not merely hearers only', by carving out personal fiefdoms as Lee himself had done. Also fine and good.

But I cannot see any of these characters 'forgetting what is behind' in order to press forward into the revelation of the Word. They all, unfortunately, have binding agendas. The blendeds cling tightly to their museum of revealed truth, and for them the oracle has left the building. No more 'fresh bread'. Chu I don't know much about but he seems to be all about building (and controlling) his small empire. Dong from what I see just wants to market his wares. Truth for him is merely something to print and sell.

If the revelation in the Word is truly "deep and wide", as we used to sing, arms outstretched, then our simply chanting somebody else's slogans won't make us likewise.

The Bible reveals to us Jesus Christ the Nazarene, who fully (we Christians believe) showed us the Kingdom of our Father in heaven. He showed us the way home His Father and ours, to His God and our God. For us Jesus is the way, truly. And the Bible shows us this Jesus (Heb 2:9), and His world, in far greater depth and detail than we have hitherto imagined. He is calling; He is waiting. We should press on.

Lee with his denigration of the Word of God as "fallen" and "natural" exposed himself to me as what he truly was. And his categorical dismissal of all other students of the Word as unprofitable and useless was an equivalent move. Not at all something I want to follow. The 'flock' has pressed deep into the Word before us, and the Spirit calls through the Bride. We can learn from those learners who have preceded us, and we can press on.
