Default Knowing the Facts, Not Wanting to Know the Facts,

  • For the body is not one member, but many. 15 If the foot says, “Because I am not a hand, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason any the less a part of the body. 1Corinthians 12:14-15
  • do not be arrogant toward the branches; but if you are arrogant, remember that it is not you who supports the root, but the root supports you. Romans 11:18
  • I wrote something to the church; but Diotrephes, who loves to be first among them, does not accept what we say. For this reason, if I come, I will call attention to his deeds which he does, unjustly accusing us with wicked words; and not satisfied with this, he himself does not receive the brethren, either, and he forbids those who desire to do so and puts them out of the church. 3 John 9-10
After consideration there appears to be more signs of arrogance than ignorance. On one hand some elders and co-workers have fallen into the trap of needing to be partial. Maybe in part not wanting to upset the apple cart or not wanting to be marked as "he's not one with us". As Ohio has said many times before the system has made spiritual bullies out of decent brothers. The bully is manifested with the arrogant behavior he couldn't possibly be in error.

The arrogance is being conceited. When it comes to matters, issues, or things, there's a concept brothers have they don't need to have all the facts and maybe don't need to know all the facts. Even more having the conceit to say not many are equipped to discern the feeling of the body, but brothers We can.

The arrogance and conceit goes further to say who can meet and who cannot meet. We see in 3rd John what Diotrophes did. This was repeated by the Exclusive Brethren, in the Recovery, and who knows how many other Christian sects have chosen who to receive and who to put out of the church. This is not "does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." 1 Corinthians 13:5-7

Instead of conceit making spiritual bullies out of decent brothers, I would like to see "with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love" Ephesians 4:2
