This is something I really have a hard time with when people stand to "prophesy." Whatever was contained in that week's reading couldn't possibly have been digested, experienced, tested and understood between Sundays. Yet people stand up and repeat something (often a sad though strangely accepted substitute for sharing something that's been enjoyed) as if they were absolutely sure it was the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
I often wonder what some people sitting next to me think when they read 1 John 4. I know some of them think the HWFMR is the Word of God...
