I think the concept of deputy authority is taught in both the OT and the NT. But the point I always got is that we can leave all judgement to the Lord, He'll take care of any attack, similar to the way He took care of Balaam, or Korah, or Saul, or Eli. If BP has been given the deputy authority to act as a prosecuting attorney, well even so, the Lord is still the judge and the church is the jury. The NT says "tell it to the church" it is not for BP to condemn or to pass judgement. By doing so he usurped the authority of the Body.

I think the best example is David and Saul. David was anointed by Samuel, but so was Saul. By honoring that anointing he honored his own anointing. Instead of raising a hand against Saul he trusted in God to resolve the matter. Saul was judged for overstepping his authority. He did not honor the word to him by Samuel, by doing that he dishonored his anointing. One evil leftover another and another.
