Default Re: Ham's curse

Hi NFNL,

The funny thing about that Bible story (Genesis 9:24-27), often used by the leadership in Anaheim to demonstrate how we mustn't ever expose these sins of the past, is that it was Noah and not God who laid a curse on Ham, his own son. And Noah cursed his son because his son offended his pride.
Not to take away anything from the topic at hand, but in recent years, I've learned Noah did not curse his son Ham. Noah curses his grandson Canaan. He is Ham's youngest son Yet, like you and many others, I was taught God cursed Ham.

And as you pointed out, it was Noah who cursed not God.

But the curse actually skipped Ham. (not to say Ham didn't escape his father's wrath!)
It is significant why Noah did this but that topic of discussion (the curse) does not pertain to this thread. I Just wanted to clarify the scriptures you brought out as they are penned. I'm not trying to step on your toes. Hope you don't mind me pointing them out. Here are the scriptures:

18 Now the sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem and Ham and Japheth; and Ham was the father of Canaan.

24 When Noah awoke from his wine, and knew the thing which his youngest son had done to him,

25 He exclaimed, Cursed be Canaan! He shall be the servant of servants to his brethren!
