It seems you and I are foolish to ever have believed we could be saved.
Before we were saved we were slaves to sin. But after we were saved and born again through the Holy Spirit, we are no longer slaves to sin but righteousness. Paul addresses this in Romans 6:

"What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— because anyone who has died has been set free from sin."

Of course no one is saying we can do this perfectly. God sees our heart that we are making a best effort to walk this out and offers us grace when we repent and confess our sins (1 John 1:8-10). The difference is between using grace as a license to practice sin and get deeper into it versus using God's grace to pick ourselves back up as we turn away from sin and addiction and we walk the narrow path that leads to life. Only God would know someone's heart and the subtle difference between the two dispositions.

1 John 3:8
Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.

This just goes back to my point.. to take on the millennial exclusion view you basically have to turn your mind off when reading passages like Romans 6.
