Re: An update as of 1-09-2011
Dear fellow believers in our most wonderful Lord Jesus Christ,
I have shared a little regarding the work with the gospel here in Durham, NC and our gospel friends meeting on the Lord’s Day evenings.
More and more of the refugees from Nepal are coming to this gathering as well as others including dear believers who do not meet with us but are burdened and concerned that the Good News of Jesus Christ reach the lost world all around us.
Last night we were literally overflowing the house. My daughter-in-law, Jenny, was able to count 48 adults but she said she could not see everyone. In addition there were 12 children by my wife’s estimate.
At least 15 were unbelieving friends.
About 15 of the new believers from Nepal and some from Nepal who were already believers sat on the living room floor and sang songs and chorus’ in Nepalese to the Lord. I could only close my eyes and worship the Lord and bask in His presents as these dear ones sang their hearts out while their friends and unbelieving visitors observed. Two former Hindu leaders who have been saved in the last month joined in the singing. The new brother who had been a main leader among them leaned his head back and closed his eyes as he sang and opened his heart to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
(Two of the new comers were ladies originally from Nepal, not refugees, who were educated in Germany and established here in the USA. They only live about 5 blocks from us. They had meant one of the participants and accepted the invitation to come.)
After the sharing of the gospel from the Word, some asked for prayer requests. About 20 of us knelt in the middle of the room and prayed for the requests. While we prayed, I could hear an American brother sharing with one of the ladies about receiving the Lord. She told him she had decided that she would believe in Jesus. While we prayed for the needs presented to us, I could hear her praying to receive the Lord.
After the large group prayer ended, the brand new sister called her sister to speak with the American brother. The second sister also prayed to receive the Lord. After this our time in the home continued with much informal fellowship and sharing. Several were able to encourage the brand new sisters and I can testify the Lord’s presence was so pure and so sweet as love flowed from one to another and from the believing ones to the precious friends whom we believe are on the way to believing.
A sister who took some pictures during a recent gathering which was for baptism has begun to email them to me. Perhaps I will be able to post some.
Your Brother in Christ Jesus,
Hope
