You make valid points about tree vs. vine. But Jesus was speaking metaphorically in John 15 so I'm not ready to give up that as a possible extension of the tree of life.

I have another question (I probably shouldn't do this as I am drawn into these type of discussions and it usually gets me into trouble but here goes):

WHY did God create/plant a tree (the TOK) in the garden which bore beautiful, tasty fruit but then BAN the eating of that fruit? You who think the fruit itself wasn't toxic but that it was disobedience that mattered ... why? Is God tempting man?
