Re: Fixing the Problems Helps Everyone Concerned, even LC Leadership

Yes, that is true, and it's good to distinguish between following the Lord at an individual level versus how the LC would pressure everyone to participate in the latest "flow" or "move" of the Lord....

Re: Fixing the Problems Helps Everyone Concerned, even LC Leadership

I hope that my posts don't come across the wrong way. I'm certainly not against seeing reform happen within the LC, I just don't see it as being likely.

One thing that I think is important to...

Re: Fixing the Problems Helps Everyone Concerned, even LC Leadership

Without a doubt, the LC would be seriously destabilized if they ever confronted the truth. It could even collapse completely. The current leadership probably realizes this to some extent, and just...

Talking to Believers in the Local Church

After leaving, it didn't take me long to realize that there was just no point in maintaining contact with any of them. I wouldn't have minded so much if there was the opportunity for any real...

Re: WARNING! Christians on Campus

This should be very helpful for those who might need it. One approached that is mentioned that can be particularly useful when confronting groups like the LC is simply encouraging people to ask...

Re: Can Anyone Help Our College Student?

When I was in college, I was president of a campus club affiliated with the LC. In all instances that I am aware of, the club will act as an outreach arm of the LC in that city, and they do make a...

Re: I left the Local Church After Reading the Real Church History

Within the LC, I always noticed a particular emphasis on church history and discussion of the successes/failures of various groups. It's almost as if it created a false sense of objectivity, to think...

Re: Why lc isn't apart of the breathen church?

Yeah, Nee/Lee made the claim to be simply standing on the shoulders of those who had gone before them. It seemed fair enough. But as it turned out the real goal of picking and choosing all the things...

Re: Why lc isn't apart of the breathen church?

Yes, it's all rather telling. The LC wants to take things here and there from each group, but they don't really recognize any of those groups as legitimate beyond that.

Re: Why lc isn't apart of the breathen church?

Very true. The LC was formed out of a supposed need to separate from others due to the perception that everyone else was divisive. There's nothing particularly alarming about the fact that Nee/Lee...

Re: Why lc isn't apart of the breathen church?

My understanding is that Nee was kicked out of the exclusive brethren due to his association with TA Sparks. I think the LCM associated with Sparks and other open brethren groups until Lee started...

Re: Quotes and Quips - "enable men to become sons of God"

Very true. I've always felt that often times WL said things mostly for shock value. In other words, he could of expressed certain things in much more meaningful ways.

Fixing the Problems Helps Everyone Concerned, even LC Leadership

When I look at the LC and what is happening within it currently, I don't see anything that makes me particularly optimistic about it. Of course, it's never too late for reform to happen, however, at...

Re: I Am A Part Of The Local Church

Welcome to this forum. I also grew up in the LC, and as far back as I can remember, I was aware that there were people out there who held "negative" views of the LC. I never gave that much thought...

Re: shepherdingwords.com

I think that in the minds of the blendeds, what they perceive to be the greatest threat is not so much what people can read online, but the possibility of people reading things and then being able to...

Re: Quotes and Quips

WL's ministry is full of statements like this. I think that some find it appealing just because it is so simplistic, in the same way that some people might find a get-rich-quick scheme appealing.

We have no way of knowing how many people have read these various writings, but just here on this forum, the Speaking the Truth in Love book post shows 28,000 views. Even if half those views were...

Re: shepherdingwords.com

A lot of these types of groups simply refuse to acknowledge the concerns of their members, so people take to the internet to voice their concerns, and then these groups fire back on the internet as...

Re: A Frustrated Mother

Unregistered,

It is a common misconception that ex-LC members are just out to argue and drag others through the mud. That was my belief for a long time, and in fact, that is exactly what they want...

Re: LordsRecovery.Org Exposing the Christian Cult of Witness Lee's Local Ch

It's great to have these types of resources available. The LC is able to get away with much of what it teaches because they have made a particular point to silence all opposing viewpoints.

The...

Re: The Lord is not going to build His church by the method of lying

Yes, they became the very thing they set out not to be. The problem that they sought to solve became even moreso of a problem within the LC than many other groups.

Re: They Actually Try to Defend the Way Ron Kangas Spoke About his Wife

What is really interesting with many of the current events in the LC is that a lot of these statements being made by Ron and others are fairly straight-forward as to what is being said. For example,...

Re: The Lord is not going to build His church by the method of lying

I think a lot of the problem with the LC is that they are absolutely convinced that they have a special "vision" and purpose. Among those in the LC who are the most dedicated to those supposed...

Re: They Actually Try to Defend the Way Ron Kangas Spoke About his Wife

Each time they write another one of these articles, they take the default stance that the LCM can do or say nothing wrong and then proceed to accuse others of deliberately misinterpreting what was...

Re: Shepherding Words "From The Co-Workers In The Lord's Recovery"

This is one of the things that the LC just gets completely wrong. Throughout history, Christianity has always been involved in social causes and reform. It wouldn't even exist without that.

One...
