Re: Eternal Salvation Is Free; Ruling With Christ Is Earned

This is very succinctly put and easy to grasp! So much so that I think I will post this idea in another forum I'm on - thanks!

Re: Brief Introduction- I Started Leaving the Local Church 5 Years Ago

As someone else alluded to, all all that obligation for so long sounds quite oppressive! It has me wondering what my kids thought of the LC scene, although it was just for around 5 years when they...

Re: “God Is Fear”? 10 Signs That Your Church is Becoming A Cult

Wow - in reading through the 10 things . . . I think TLR hits them all! And for me it really culminated in fear - fear of leaving (cuz God might whack me) and an unhealthy fear of God - not seeing...

Re: Leaving The Local Church Has Consequences

(sorry - I didn't realize I was responding to a post over 10 years old here!)

I can't point you in the direction of those specific posts. But I remember being in conferences in the 70s & 80s...

Re: Leaving the LRC has consequences....

I meet with a small group of brothers weekly. Some are ex-Recovery bros and some are aren't. I was relating something of my testimony, how the Lord had showed me (in a pit of desperet seeking)...

Re: 1000 Years Discipline

That was said regarding your opinion, which I might say to anyone's opinion (including my own). That is, before you quoted verses you stated an opinion, to wit: "If a believer has committed...

Re: My experience

Welcome to the Local Church Discussion Forum! Here you'll find many who have had similar experiences such as yourself. Personally, I found the LC in 1974 and left in 1988. Many here will tell you...

Re: 1000 Years Discipline

I have to admit this is one of those "bothering verses" to me. That is, I can very nearly get all the related squirrels up the one "all is forgiven in Christ" theological tree, except for this...

Re: 1000 Years Discipline

So John quoted from these books you mentioned, including Lang's "The Churches of God"? A former LCer I met online (on another forum) recently recommended Lang's book and I am reading through it just...

Re: What is the New Testament Definition of a Church

Does anybody else read or get (emailed) the T. Austin Sparks devotional, "Daily Open Windows"? In these devotions he often brings up topics around what is the church and errors around forming a local...

Re: aron's testimony

I'd be interested in seeing that too.

May I ask those who have read this book and other collaborating things, what is the percentage of confidence do you have, that what is conveyed in them is...

Re: If anyone experienced this, please advice.

This actually happened again, with a current LC person on here recently - they asked for my testimony, then vanished . . . wassup with that?

Re: Diary of the Lords Recovery

And I remember pondering the same thing when I went to my last LC meeting in Tacoma about 10 years ago - lots of activity, but almost nothing spontaneous that wasn't strictly LSM based.

Since you...

Re: Diary of the Lords Recovery

After a Sunday meeting in Columbus, I went with an older LC brother to eat at a fast food place. In a back corner sat a few Christians singing softly with one on guitar. We went back and...

Re: If anyone experienced this, please advice.

Thanks for sharing that! How current is this speaking/training in the LC to be more intensely separate?

The reason I ask is I was on another Christian forum about a month ago, when a current LC...

Re: Merged Thread - Rewards and Punishment

Agreed. Maybe I'm missing something - doesn't everyone here agree there is accountability for believers with possible loss of reward? I thought the question was the severity of that, that is, not...

Re: Recovery Version Translation Issue: "Reality" in place of "Truth"

I agree - the wording does make it sound like it's the truth that is evolving. Of course, the truth doesn't change, but rather our realization of that existing truth.

I must admit, a fair amount...

Re: The Bema Seat of Christ

Thanks for pointing that out regarding the more severe judgment side of the meaning of "bema." I have been one who recently leaned more toward the Olympic game meaning of it, and I believe there is...

Re: The Rod: Temporary Punishment for Christians at the Judgment Seat of Ch

Chuck and wife Nancy, about 10 years ago, saw the matter of Christian rewards for works and wrote about this in their book, "The Kingdom, Power & Glory (the overcomer's handbook)." However, I don't...

Re: The Rod: Temporary Punishment for Christians at the Judgment Seat of Ch

From the reviews I read (not Amazon) they called the book controversial, because it supposedly sets up something of a "protestant purgatory." That is, Christians will be shamed for the shortcomings...
