Re: LGBTQ

ZNPaaneah Okay I get what you're saying, and yeah there's about 50 different ways to talk about this topic. Maybe if I get some time I'll write out a more thought-out thread for further discussion on...

Re: Mental Health in the LC

Sons to Glory! I'm so glad you found the help you needed to go on in the Lord! I think that was a wise balance between talking to a therapist and finding true happiness in God!

Re: Mental Health in the LC

@Jo S I'm happy to hear that you found happiness through God in such a dynamic way! I hear this wonderful story countless times in many hymns and spiritual songs, and I think it encapsulates many...

Re: LGBTQ

ZNPaaneah, I really wasn't trying to be offensive, trust me I changed it a few times and thought that was the least offensive term I could come up with that wasn't an empty politeness. Sorry if it...

Re: LGBTQ

I've only really skimmed through this thread, but I actually have a question, mostly pertaining to the idea of homosexuality as a 'lifestyle'.

I see this term come up in every single argument...

Re: LGBTQ

I've always considered this form to be a place to discuss differing Biblical interpretations; while the LC is vehemently anti-LGBTs there are countless other churches that are actually pro-LGBTs....

Re: SerenityLives

SerenityLives, thank you for posting your testimony! Honestly the views of the church (and much of Christianity) on LGBTQ folks is what first made me turn away from the church, and it hurts me to...

Re: Hope for all you church kids

I was gonna make this a thread of it's own but I'm not sure how to do that, anyways I made a transcript of Ron Kangas' speaking because I want to make sure people read it and know exactly how Ron...

Re: YouTube Texas Street Preacher

Ohio & HERn: Thank you for this advice! You have no idea how much it helps to hear other people say that. I want to be honest with my parents about why I'm leaving, and do so in the least...

Re: YouTube Texas Street Preacher

Of course I am worried how my parents will react but I don't appreciate you assuming my situation, my Christian walk, and my courage is comparable to those who are not me. Sure I guess I could leave...

Re: YouTube Texas Street Preacher

I'll be the first to criticize the shortcomings of the LC, but these videos are extremely appalling. I don't see a love of God in this videos, but rather a love for controversy, and attention. Every...

Re: Marriage in the "Lord's Recovery"

Part of the difficulty in finding a spouse could also be related to whether or not they have attended the full-time training. While the primary purpose of attending the FTTA is to be 'trained' in the...

Re: My experience as a church kid: Why I want out

The corporate living has both good and bad aspects to it I'll agree. While I don't live in corporate living, I am there enough to get a sense of what it's like. It can be helpful to those looking to...

Re: My experience as a church kid: Why I want out

I completely agree! There's this insidious idea to not question the teachings or doctrines being handed to us, and I'm not quite sure I'm built to except things like that at face value. Sometimes, I...

Re: My experience as a church kid: Why I want out

Thank you for your response, it's re-assuring to hear someone else talk about their struggle with this, and validate my resistance to attend the FTTA.

And I completely agree with your above...
