Re: Partial Rapture And Dispensational Punishment

I like this consideration, especially the first sentence. "But when the Lord comes, will he find faith?" Faith is today. "Now is the hour of salvation." There's no other hour, really.

But my faith...

Re: Partial Rapture And Dispensational Punishment

,
It seems this way to me as well. The "this means that" and "it is so clear" schools of thought have a place, but it's more circumscribed than they might wish. The only hard-and-fast is to confess...

Re: Shepherding Words "From The Co-Workers In The Lord's Recovery"

I don't think Ohio was implying that you were a wolf. He was agreeing with Igzy's self-identification as watching over the flock.

A lot of us on the forum don't see eye-to-eye on many things, both...

Re: Partial Rapture And Dispensational Punishment

Hi Guest,

My problem with the "outer darkness for 1,000 years for lukewarm Christians who don't walk properly" is this: Jesus taught that some who did poorly, but were given little to work with,...

Re: A System of Error?

There was a whole thread started on this subject a while back. "Things that most Christian's don't know (but WL knows)" or something like that. The idea being, there was some special proprietary...

Re: A System of Error?

Now let me ask.

If an angel of the Lord told Philip to go down the south road, in Acts 8:26, and the Spirit told Philip in Acts 8:29 to run up to a certain chariot, was that Spirit the Holy...

Re: Shepherding Words "From The Co-Workers In The Lord's Recovery"

All of our posts probably need similar qualifiers. We're sinners, trying by faith in Jesus Christ to make it home to our Father in heaven. None can say, "I have laid hold" except Christ himself who...

Re: LordsRecovery.Org Exposing the Christian Cult of Witness Lee's Local Ch

Good point, here. Ill-defined and arbitrarily-applied terms like "worldly" versus "proper" become levers for control. But no one questions, even if it begins to strain at absurdity, because no one...

Re: Sisters "Rebellion" - "the 3 holy sisters speak"

One quote in particular:

"At one point he [Benson Philips] declared that sisters didn't have any spiritual discernment, and that they were, therefore, easy prey for Satan‟s deception. He also...

Re: Life Study of Revelation Misses Mark RE: "First Love"

I repeat that love is not a feeling but an action of stretching out of one's selfish needs and giving of oneself and one's possessions, done even where there's no reciprocation. This is God's economy...

Re: Life Study of Revelation Misses Mark RE: "First Love"

The faith was called the "way", and one of the prime directives of the way was to love others. Jesus repeatedly taught to give to those who would not repay, and the heavenly reward would be great. He...

Re: Sad Funny Ridiculous

Steve was in a mtg where WL said that they should go and find out what had happened to the missing members.

Now, why did WL call for something so obviously disastrous? Had he repeated the stories...

Re: Sad Funny Ridiculous

I started a thread on the 'apologetics' section called "The Psalms are the word of Christ". There are over 800 posts but if you read the first 35 or so, you'll get the idea. The Psalms were...

Re: Sad Funny Ridiculous

Everyone has a voice. It's encouraging to see more and more are exercising their God-given rights to speak up. Witness Lee nullified the functions of the saints by coercing them to say, "Amen, amen"...

Life Study of Revelation Misses Mark RE: "First Love"

Great observation. The greatest commandment is to love the Father God with all our heart and soul and strength, and the second is like the first, to love your neighbour as yourself.

Those both are...

Thanks for linking this site A2Z.

I think that people who have been through the LC and recognize it now for what it is, and is doing to people, have an obligation to speak out, and it is...

Re: Wake-up Letter to Minoru

Young adults leave because the blessed life doesn't materialize, instead it's more demands for commitment. Eventually, they either come back because they've been deeply programmed to believe there's...

Re: Wake-up Letter to Minoru

The last sentence of the post being considered says, "I've left for some time, and have come back recently. - a young working saint."

The person left for some time - now, we don't know this...

Re: Greetings from a young person currently in the LC

I've read a lot of posts on this forum that sound like this. Growing up sheltered, not taught how to think critically, fed a sanitized version of events, then when other experiences and perspectives...

People believe what they want to believe

I was watching an interview with a "Christian cult" leader who'd been convicted of sexually abusing minors, had gone to jail, and was now back in charge of the cult. The interviewer, a TV reporter,...

Re: My decision

I've asked this before but it might bear repeating, here - why is it that WN's decision to leave his parent's Christianity and strike out on his own is celebrated as "recovery", while LC children are...

There's a lot in the rest of this post as well, but I wanted to comment on this part especially.

My impression is that the chief error being taught in modern (Protestant and post-Protestant)...

Mercy without repentance

The system as pushed by LC leaders took great pains to appear strictly adherent to the Bible, both in letter and spirit, often using coded terms like 'proper' and 'genuine' and 'normal', but under...

Re: Appreciation for the Lord's recovery.

The error embedded in the concept of "The Lord's recovery" as a special demarcated entity apart from "fallen and degraded Christianity" has two suppositions which don't turn out to be real.

Re: Appreciation for the Lord's recovery.

I agree with your point about recovery/restoration groups. Everything Jesus touches is recovery. How can anyone say that what Jesus touches is limited to their experiences?
