Re: Responsibility of Christians Responding to Aberrant/Abusive Groups

The term "Church" has multiple definitions and applications. It can be a physical place of worship or can be referring to the body of Christ. The RCC and LC's are churches, meaning public places of...

Re: Responsibility of Christians Responding to Aberrant/Abusive Groups

In the context of Christianity Ekklesia refers to those called out of the world and to God. It doesn't have to be a physical gathering to qualify. Every born-again Christian is part of the Ekklesia.

Re: Responsibility of Christians Responding to Aberrant/Abusive Groups

StG, I recall you mentioning you meet with the Catholic church and it's members? Is that correct?

I don't agree with your equivalency however. Thyatira had faults but they were not yet apostate....

Re: Responsibility of Christians Responding to Aberrant/Abusive Groups

According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Catholic ecclesiology professes the Catholic Church to be the "sole Church of Christ" i.e., the one true church defined as "one, holy, catholic, and...

Re: Responsibility of Christians Responding to Aberrant/Abusive Groups

Trapped, what I see is that you’re not just “treating” the Local Churches as part of the church, but like others here, it’s what you personally believe.

I understand you can assume their claims...

Re: Responsibility of Christians Responding to Aberrant/Abusive Groups

Equating purity of heart to being “pure as the driven snow” is an exaggeration; I did after all use King David as the example to follow rather than walking on water as a prerequisite to exposing...

Re: Responsibility of Christians Responding to Aberrant/Abusive Groups

There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death. Proverbs 14:12

There's always a right way and a wrong way. To be sure we need to test our hearts so we don't find...

Re: Responsibility of Christians Responding to Aberrant/Abusive Groups

Also, consider these two verses;

You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. -Matthew 7:5

and;

Hide...

Re: The Shunning

I understand, Trapped, really I do. There is an extreme when it comes to shunning and, yes, it can and does cause great psychological trauma. I suppose this is where I was going with my original...

Re: The Shunning

Our definitions may differ. I look at shunning as distancing oneself from another emotionally. Then there is the extreme of complete social and emotional rejection. Also, adding context may help as...

Re: The Shunning

Parents shun their children when they misbehave. Paul shunned Hymenaeus and Alexander (1 Tim 1:20) because they were damaging the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In the same way cult groups shun members when...

Re: A Corona Virus Great Awakening?

Not buying it, StG. The reason is the things you are now alleging are things I've recently called you out on. What that's telling me is you're projecting.

No worries though. If you have any...

Re: A Corona Virus Great Awakening?

No worries, StG.

Your questions don't frustrate me. Although it would be nice if you were more inquisitive and sincere with your questions in the future rather than looking for ways to make...

Re: A Corona Virus Great Awakening?

Honestly, StG, I don't listen to Christian teachers enough to make such a recommendation. Unlike yourself, I don't spend much time chasing after them and their opinions. I may pick up a thing here or...

Re: A Corona Virus Great Awakening?

So you're equating God's discipline in a Christian's life for the purpose of purifying their faith to God's wrath on unbelievers for the purpose of destruction to eternal damnation....

Well, if...

Re: A Corona Virus Great Awakening?

You are asking me to make a general recommendation for a Christian teacher. I can't do that because I have yet to find one that I fully agree with on all doctrine. Christ and the Apostles, however, I...

Re: A Corona Virus Great Awakening?

I can't answer that as far as modern Christian teachers go but I can say that Jesus was given authority by God and the Apostles were given authority by Jesus. We also know that every Christian that...

Re: Soul & Spirit - Same or Different?

Paul makes it clear you can accept a different spirit at the preaching of a different Jesus. (2 Cor 11:4). That's why we are told to examine ourselves for this very reason. Testing and examining is...

Re: A Corona Virus Great Awakening?

That was the point. The function of prophecy in the Old Testament differed to what prophecy should be in the church age, meaning NT prophecy. John's prophecy was the last of that kind as stated in...

Re: Soul & Spirit - Same or Different?

Neither do I recall a scripture verse stating that Jesus lives in us in his entirety.

The LC's taught the heresy of Modalism meaning that after ascension he became a spirit. Scripture, however,...

No, it's not necessary. I have twice already addressed your concern, StG. I however don't know why you felt the need to justify yourself. No one asked for your declaration but you're free to do so.
