Re: A Review of Hank's Recent Book.

I don't care how much anyone wraps their (or others') words in outward signs of exuberance or of deep emotional impact, you can't just presume "anointing" if the source of what raised the outward...

Re: A Review of Hank's Recent Book.

I'd say that for a lot of things, including where and how we get our teaching. I'd rather have someone with a reasonable amount of training (perhaps a degree) from a reputable seminary be responsible...

Re: What is God's Economy?

Well, that would definitely be part of God's economy. And if someone had tried to define it to not be a part, then it clearly should be included.

Re: What is God's Economy?

I'm not sure what you are getting at here. Are you saying that the activities of all of Christ's followers are the same? That everyone engages in the acts that are demonstrated by the apostles?

I...

Re: What is God's Economy?

It is, after all, the ACTS of the Apostles, not the Teachings of the Apostles.

Re: Bible as the Absolute Authority

I do not necessarily have a problem with what is effectively some kind of "testimony time." But the very pattern of the teaching Jesus, of the things he said and taught to his disciples that were...

Re: Politics and the Church

Wow! The knowledge of what I was thinking and meaning is mindboggling for someone who . . . well . . . hasn't a clue.

But I will return to my primary reason for stepping into the mud pit that you...

Re: What is God's Economy?

I first wondered how to consider aron's most recent post "on topic." Then I realized that without ever saying the words, it is a prime example of God's economy. It is the result of healthy teachings....

Re: What is God's Economy?

I would not presume that just because Paul was talking about the house of God that the term should be understood in its most primitive form. There are many words that may have origins in separate...

Re: The Speciality, Generality, and Practicality of the Church Life

I just hope that no matter what kind of positives that might be found whether directly spoken by this or other LSM books, or unintentionally as some of us heard the voice of God speaking from...

Re: What is God's Economy?

Sort of in part. But I'm not sure that I am actually saying what you think.

I am saying that the supply in the house is just part of the whole of what is God's economy. We surely need a supply....

Re: Bible as the Absolute Authority

Somewhat true. And moreso in some places than in others. But the idea that we all are teachers in terms of the meetings for worship is inconsistent with the example provided. It does seem that the...

Re: What is God's Economy?

But that view is restrictive. It only deals with how the riches of the estate are distributed to those who live there. God's economy encompasses so much more than the doling out of clothing and food...

Re: Politics and the Church

That's it. Shoot the messenger.

As I recall, BK did not admit to the serious charges, but did admit to issues with drinking even underage. And some of his friends said that there was something...

Re: What are the Gold, Silver, and Precious Stones in 1 Cor 3:12?

I think that trying to give some kind of specific meaning to the separate items is to chase a squirrel from Paul's meaning. The verse is part of a passage talking about the teachers that the...

Re: Resurrection is the key

Just read through this and something is bugging me. I agree that Jesus made reference to Jonah concerning being in the belly of the whale for 3 days. But for Jonah, the suffering/death metaphor is...

Re: What is God's Economy?

First, is this some version of the scripture, or is it a section heading?

In any case, it is good stuff. But I have this problem with phrasing it in that "house law" way because it then suggests...

Re: Bible as the Absolute Authority

I think that one of the problems is that the LRC took what was being bridled by Paul in his letter to the Corinthians and reopened the spigot to create something that appeals to anyone who thinks the...

Re: Politics and the Church

Trump derangement syndrome is really a delusion that Trump is the god that he thinks he is. I do not necessarily disagree with the politics of people who decided that Trump was the lesser evil in the...

Re: Christ Becoming The Live-Giving Spirit

I'll pass on the KJV discussion.

But saying that any three that bear witness on something are one actually is not so unable to be understood. It is not a declaration that the three witnesses are...

Re: What is God's Economy?

And in that little bit is a revelation of the nature of God's economy as seen by Nee and Lee. It is a lens through which to view everything else. And the nature of that lens was defined in a manner...

Re: The Speciality, Generality, and Practicality of the Church Life

However, whether or not you had some genuine experience of God then, the book and its errors is worthy of dissection if anyone still is interested.

Re: The Speciality, Generality, and Practicality of the Church Life

I cannot disparage the anointing within you. But I can give you reason to consider whether what was thought to be the anointing at some previous time actually was. What you do with it is up to you.

Re: Quotes and Quips

I didn't feel it necessary to identify DeYoung's position on Emergence or give the title, but you are correct. I also note that in his own blog he refers to himself as "DeYoung, Restless, and...
