Re: SPLIT THREAD - Control and Addiction in the Local Church

I'll accept that leaders have more responsibility. Maybe the split should be 60/40. Nonetheless both parties are responsible. And for either side to argue how much the split should be is really...

Re: SPLIT THREAD - Control and Addiction in the Local Church

OBW it is interesting that you use Jonestown as an example. I have reiterated many times that in the case of a cult and/or addiction control of the will is quite possible. So we agree on both...

Re: SPLIT THREAD - Control and Addiction in the Local Church

Yes Igzy I would agree that "influence for self-serving purposes" is possible in a free society as the advertising industry well knows. But ultimately we are responsible for our actions regardless of...

Re: SPLIT THREAD - Control and Addiction in the Local Church

OBW if you'll read my posts carefully instead of fabricating notions that I'm trying to "control" this thread then you'd realize that I readily accept the idea that some in the Lee church are...

Re: SPLIT THREAD - Control and Addiction in the Local Church

Exactly my point UntoHim: they went knowingly and willingly to hear Chen's babble and no doubt "amened" him after every other sentence.

OBW if I change my mind about something I changed my mind....

Re: SPLIT THREAD - Control and Addiction in the Local Church

Ohio I think you are missing the point i.e. getting lost in among the trees and missing the forest.

Was the audience forced to go and listen to Chen or did they voluntarily assemble? My guess...

Re: This is the Witness Lee that I remember

countmeworthy you contradict yourself. You suggest that nobody outside the Lee church can understand the control involved and then you say in essence everyone has experienced control by somone/thing...

Re: This is the Witness Lee that I remember

countmeworthy there is no need to be afraid of the truth that Lee did not control anybody and could not do so in a free society. As OBW has pointed out either one aligned their will with Lee's and...

Re: This is the Witness Lee that I remember

Ohio I think "can force" and "against your will" are not that difficult to understand: Did Lee put a gun to your head and make you do something you did not want to do? Doubtful.

His claim that...

Re: This is the Witness Lee that I remember

I define control as a person or person/s who can force you to do something against your will. Lee perhaps was perceived as such a person but in fact was not. In a free society very few people have...

SPLIT THREAD - Control and Addiction in the Local Church

Ohio in your post #39 you bring out an interesting point regarding Lee's behavior and those of his followers i.e. what and who did he really control? His claim that he controlled nobody is actually...

Re: This is the Witness Lee that I remember

Actually I think people at least on this forum seem be a lot smarter than to think in extremes i.e. Lee was all good or all bad. Obviously he was both.

But since the LSM propaganda machine runs...

Re: This is the Witness Lee that I remember

Did anyone really know Lee? What really did anyone know about him in America except he was a coworker of Watchman Nee? He was taken at face value and his history was taken as the history of the...

Re: Questions about Daystar

Sorry for my misunderstanding Ohio. So they were using the LSM and the Lee church in Dallas as conduit accounts?

But as I understand it they also took equity investment and loan monies directly...

Re: Questions about Daystar

Ohio I think what Igzy is saying is: Daystar was a for profit enterprise. LSM is a non-profit enterprise. Technically speaking LSM must plow it's profits back into it's legit ministry activities...

Re: Questions about Daystar

I know of at least two people who would not forgive the loans they made to the Daystar debacle and expected repayment i.e. Lee tried to get them to sign off on a forgiveness document and they...

Re: Questions about Daystar

When you consider what else was going on, trying to convince lady church members to pose in bikinis for "God's move on the earth" seems mild in comparison.

And by the way I am not being prudish on...

IDontKnow you forgot to ask about the lady church members they asked to pose in bikinis to make advertising materials to sell the Daystar.

Re: Is an "Appeal to Caesar" Really the Scriptural "Second Principle"??

As UntoHim has pointed out the egomaniacs of Lee's church use the threat of lawsuits and actual suing as a bullying tactic to get their own way. "Give us what we want or we will sue you." That's...

Re: Is an "Appeal to Caesar" Really the Scriptural "Second Principle"??

The twisting of Scriptures by Lee's church is most evident in these kind of things. The idea that they compare Lee to Paul is just silly. But to stretch that further into them suing Christians = a...

Re: Is an "Appeal to Caesar" Really the Scriptural "Second Principle"??

Tell it to what church? The Lee church sues the authors of the HH book. Did they go to those bros' church and present their case? No. They went to themselves and their lawyers. It is a self...

Egomanical Suers

I think Witness Lee and his church sue because they have ego problems. He was an egomaniac and so are the current leaders which were trained by him. It is a psychological problem not a biblical one....

Re: Who is the real "Cultic movement within Christianity"?

IDon'tKnow you astutely address the hypocrisy that is the glowing trademark of LSM. Sure they'll play to their audience and lecture other Christians about "Christianity" calling us whores, etc. But...

Re: Letter from the The Church in Madrid Spain (regarding Dong's ministry)

Has Dong Yu Lan been quarantined by the Blended Prattlers yet? Frankly I'm a bit surprised he wasn't just lumped in with Chu & Co since apparently he has been thumbing his nose at the one...

Re: We should just sense life and not discern right and wrong?

You know I can never figure it out: do the LSM stalwarts really believe their own press about themselves and their supposed authority? I mean really believe it? Or is it all just a thing they have...
