Re: A FB post

Peter, do you know the title of this book? If I could search by year published (I assume around 1997 or 1998) I would go looking myself.

And then add to this the ever-pervasive "We're not in...

Re: Open Letter - Dear Saints in the Lord's Recovery

Hi tentmaker,

I understand what Jo Casteel's point meant, and I understand what yours means too. I think you both are making separate points about the same sentence.

Your point seems to be...

Re: Awoken after 38 Years

Okay, understood, and agreed. What I meant was any responses to her from any saints who disagree with her (including potential but unlikely contact from someone at LSM or DCP). Obviously so far...

Re: Awoken after 38 Years

I have to say, responses from LSM/DCP/saints who disagree are what I am interested in too.

Re: Open Letter - Dear Saints in the Lord's Recovery

I think this letter has a few things going for it:

1. It's reasoned and doesn't use inflammatory language gratuitously.
2. It's decently formatted, grammatically pleasing, and easy to follow....

Re: Greetings

RambleOn,

Welcome! As a fellow church kid, any experiences or thoughts other church kids have are fascinating to me, and are often helpful and clarifying. I have two ears and am happy to have...

Re: Greetings from a current LC member

I agree. I would add that they not only put it up, they fortify it, reinforce it, maintain it, protect it, build it higher, build it thicker, add a moat, maybe some cannons and crossbows........

...

Re: One Church - One City - Biblical?

Can someone point to where Nee or Lee called themselves MOTAs? I know some LCers who don't agree with the MOTA thing but say that it really came into play after Lee's death and that it's the BBs who...

Re: One Church - One City - Biblical?

In Further Talks on the Church Life, Nee answers some questions about the church in a city and the church in a house:

Question: Some say that since Paul sent greetings to the church in Rome as...

Re: Is the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil, evil?

ZNP, I have to admit I'm a little lost in your questions/issue on this particular point. Can you explain a bit further?

All I mean to say is one way to read "surely die" is that when A&E ate the...

Re: Is the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil, evil?

I'm just talking about Adam and Eve being cut off. We just got the problem passed down to us.

God didn't lay a trap at all. He couldn't have been more clear about what the rules were and what...

Re: Is the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil, evil?

I've thought just a little about that and have come up with a few interpretations of "in that day you will surely die", none of which involve "you will die from the poison you ingested":

1. God...

Re: Is the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil, evil?

I've had a few conversations with LCers on this and its just a matter of time before the child taking the poison medicine analogy inevitably comes up from them (since all they are allowed to think is...

Re: Is the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil, evil?

I understand what you are saying but there is a "knowing" that can only come from personal first-hand experience.

Like the theory that the God of the OT was angry at His people because He couldn't...

Re: Is the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil, evil?

It's hard to find the balance between being generous in the "non-essentials" of the faith like this versus taking a stand against an interpretation that actually leads down a dangerous path. On the...

Re: Is the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil, evil?

This is kind of a throwaway post but I just had to get it off my chest that one of Lee's phrases I can't stand is when he says things like, "God seemed to say", and then he proceeds to read heavily...

Re: Christ is the Body, "the Body-Christ"

The church makes mistakes, hurts people, is degraded, is full of sinful people. If the church IS Christ, are you saying Christ does these things?

I have been lied to and betrayed by people in the...

Re: The Intensified God

No wonder there are however many linear feet of the collected works of Lee......all of that could have easily been condensed into one short sentence rather than repeating the exact same thing over...

Re: Is the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil, evil?

Are you talking about Adam and Eve here? If so, I wrestled for a long time with that one too. I thought that even our fallen human justice system doesn't judge people for actions other people...

Re: Is the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil, evil?

Free will is just free will. It is literally the freedom and ABILITY to sin or not sin. God gave us the ABILITY to sin, and we chose it. For free will to be free will, we had to have equal...

Re: Is the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil, evil?

I have read a lot of a lot of papers.....but honestly have trouble remembering who wrote what about what specifically. To me the most damning argument against it is to ask whether Satan is...

Re: Depression and the LCs

Thank you Jo S, Ohio, and Nell. Your responses help.

Jo S, I like the point that Jesus had compassion on the worst of sinners. This is kind of peripherally related, but, I think it's the most...

Re: Depression and the LCs

Are there any verses or stories in the Bible that back this "God is repulsed by you and cannot stand to look at you unless you are clothed in Christ" concept? (I know God forsook Jesus, but that was...

Re: Is the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil, evil?

The more I mull it over, the more the garden of Eden seems to simply be a matter of obedience and consequence. Yes, I can see an argument for "life or death", but the strange thing is God never TOLD...

Re: How do you know the Lord's leading?

This question could be inconsiderate depending on the tone behind it, but I have no reason to assume any attitude or negative tone, so I'll take it as a question of concern instead.

There are a...
