Re: DCP - 2016 in Review

Oh, is that why WL publicly claimed allegiance of several millions in the PRC from his podium? I think the # was 15 to 20 million. Real smooth move, if so. . . I can tell you it got quite the rise...

Re: DCP - 2016 in Review

No, but LSM spokesman Chris Wilde did. That's what I was referring to. I said, "the LSM house organ". That was a reference to Wilde in his official capacity, not to your posts.

In 1994, WL claimed...

Re: DCP - 2016 in Review

Consider another LC spin-off, the Brazilian variant: exaltation of top leadership, control issues, paranoia, persecution complex, blatantly self-serving ''revelations'', merchandising a captive...

Re: Glad

One of the discordant features in LC-land is that what Watchman Nee is touted for doing, i.e. drawing from many narrative streams in Christianity, is now forbidden. Go figure.

Re: DCP - 2016 in Review

Even granting Drake's point, saying "there is no connection whatsoever" doesn't mean there is no connection whatsoever, only that one wishes that it were so, once the "PR pendulum" swings the other...

Re: DCP - 2016 in Review

The fact that Adam & Eve are trying to cover themselves indicates an underlying issue.

They don't want you to notice that these fig leaves suddenly fell from the sky and stuck to their bodies; to...

Re: DCP - 2016 in Review

Agreed. The only clientele for this work is those who's conscience/curiosity is bothered enough to look, but not enough to look very far.

Thus, they're satisfied with the superficial 'authorized...

Re: Glad

Witness Lee, from the dias: "Who among you have I controlled? Who?"

Crowd, in unison: "No one, Brother Lee!"

Blended Brother #5, leaping up: "Let's all pray-read point C from the outline!"

Re: Glad

We were in a system that was hyper-aware of all the failures of everyone else but oblivious to its own. For several years I afterward, I would sit in the Community Church and mentally bad-mouth...

Re: What was Witness Lee thinking about Daystar ?

What's important about Daystar as a point in the LC discussion/history is this: it's not that the Lee family siphoned off cash into their pockets and walked away when it was gone. No, it's worse than...

Re: Personally, I feel that LSM is a cult.

I found belonging. Suddenly I mattered to someone else. I liked that I had value. I had purpose. Suddenly everything made sense. No more unanswered questions. Big Brother and The Hive had all the...

Re: Greetings from NYC!

Did I say that I disagreed? Rather, the quotes showed that unrelenting criticism of Christianity is endemic to the typical message of LSM meetings. Yet if anyone else makes "observations", as you now...

Re: Glad

UntoHim,

You have to remember that the "center of the universe" was whatever Witness Lee was teaching this week. It changed from training to training, but apparently we were 'trained' or...

Re: Greetings from NYC!

Drake,
You're a little behind schedule. We've already had a thread on this topic: "106 things not many Christians know (But Witness Lee knows)".

He built a career convincing people that he alone...

Re: Greetings from NYC!

I don't know your current affiliation, or lack thereof, but in the LSM-affiliated assemblies they constantly point out the failures of "Christianity". A meeting doesn't go by without overt or subtle...

Re: MOTA - No lurkers Allowed

Not only that, but John was apparently " rehabilitated" or "restored" after Paul died? The disconnect with the theory and the facts on the ground is evident to all but the most slavish adherents.

Re: Glad

They maintain operational control through strict informational control. There's a story from back in the 1960s, a Chinese brother was walking down the street with a young American. The Chinese said,...

Re: Greetings from NYC!

Related to the observations above, two striking features of the LC are: the widespread lack of personal transformation, and the stagnation in various "localities". The first is the cause - all the...

Re: The Psalms are the word of Christ

I remember reading about Ruth Lee from several sources, including a prominent spot in WL's "The Seer of the Divine Revelation". Don't remember that part. Thanks for bringing it up.

Amazing, to...

Re: The Psalms are the word of Christ

I didn't know this. How much of this history has been covered over! Amazing. I think the adage is appropriate, that if you don't learn the lessons of the past, you tend to relive them.

Re: The Mormon Church is "The Church"?

"These experiences are crucial for the church to become a church of overcomers."

Amen. One of the great ironies of the Nee/Lee saga is that it prohibits the very thing it's supposedly based on....

Re: The Mormon Church is "The Church"?

You feign ignorance of my argument to avoid facing it. The LSM tries to legitimize its existence by presenting a Kiplingesque "Just So Story" of church history, conveniently omitting anything that...
