Re: I left the Local Church After Reading the Real Church History

Many stories of that over the years.

Many more stories of existing non-LSM LC's being overtaken by operatives from LSM.

WL never respected the boundaries of a LC or its eldership.

Re: I left the Local Church After Reading the Real Church History

Actually Lee never really practiced the one church one city (OCOC) doctrine. There are endless stories about him and his minions violating OCOC teachings with their divisive practices. Lee only...

Re: The Globalization LSM’s Ministry—Triumph or Tragedy? - NIGEL TOMES

A church as a congregation of believers does not need to be incorporated.

That said, it is difficult to operate in today's society without incorporation as a non-profit. Without incorporation,...

Re: Why isn't the LC a Part of the Breathen Church?

Coming back to your initial question, I would also ask why George Muller was not part of the Brethren fellowship. He was. Solidly for some 15 years. And quite gifted and fruitful. With his work...

Re: In the Wake of the New Way

Your comments on WL are quite perceptive. I know my former LC colleagues in the Midwest would condemn this, but then readily accept these same comments about all of Lee's lieutenants. I would only...

Re: In the Wake of the New Way

That quote was from Nee's "Authority" book. He spoke that after his return to ministry from a 6 year excommunication by the elders in the church in Shanghai, who by the way Nee had appointed.

Re: In the Wake of the New Way

I always viewed brothers like Dan Towle, Dick Taylor, Howard Higashi, etc. as a little different than the other Blendeds. They seemed to be more personal, with a genuine relationship with the Lord,...

Re: In the Wake of the New Way

Interesting. Prolly in the late 90's, after Lee's death, Ron Kangas gave a "pseudo-prophecy" that many of those who had left would soon return, that the Spirit of God would touch their hearts to...

Re: In the Wake of the New Way

Curious, as part of the LC's for 3 decades, and studying the system for 15 more years, WL liked to play both sides when it suited him. He could appear to be the most humble and the most orthodox or...

Re: The Chief End of Man: Glorifying & Enjoying God

I still remember Phil Comfort expounding on the word grace from the original Greek. It had nothing to do with our enjoyment per se, as the "receiver" of grace. Rather grace, in its core etymology,...

Re: Talking to Believers in the Local Church

This is the kind of stupid stuff that has plagued the LC's. I have to believe that the source is some twisted description of traditional Chinese home life.

Re: Talking to Believers in the Local Church

Yes, I think you were the one who first told that story. It shocked me at the time. Who could be like that? So callous.

Re: Talking to Believers in the Local Church

Great discussion here about the deleterious effects on love which so plague former LC members.

When I first started reading on this forum, one poster repeated an old testimony from a LC meeting. ...

Re: Fixing the Problems Helps Everyone Concerned, even LC Leadership

We should also note that Lee's ministry has an eerie effect on its readers. Some I know, who left years ago, still regularly read the ministry books because "it gives them life," or so they say and...

aron you definitely have steered the answer to jesusislord's question in the right direction. Brethren and Recovery leaders have painstakingly convinced their following that it was all about the...

Re: We don't follow men, we're following the vision?

This is so true!

Couple comments regarding when WL himself obviously failed to "follow the vision":
1. Titus Chu and the Midwest: "Witness Lee is my spiritual father, his mistakes are none of...

Re: Fixing the Problems Helps Everyone Concerned, even LC Leadership

Obviously it depends on what is added to our faith, but you knew that. The Bible provides numerous warnings concerning our faith, which we all should heed, lest we nullify the grace of God.

Re: Politics and the Church - Impeachable?

The Quid Pro Quo was about the past, the 2016 election. It was the Democrats who twisted the facts to make it about the future, the 2020 election.

How is Trump's request to examine past...

Re: what is in an L

I agree with you on transparancy.

When it comes to personal tax returns, however, I think of how Romney was smeared in 2012 by the media for his taxes. His taxes were clean, but as a successful...

Re: In the Wake of the New Way

Prolly ten years ago I ran into an old LCer friend from out of town in the aftermath of the Midwest quarantines. He told me plainly that the Lord revealed to him that, "there is no love in Laodicea."

Great connections here Terry.

LSM has become every bit a political organization as the Democratic Party. Same tactics, same dissembling, same accusing and excusing, projecting their own...
