Dead websites, missing papers?!
 

How is it that the LC has been so successful at discouraging or actually having removed websites and letters that give personal accounts?!

I have followed a few links here, and I have searched around the internet, and I am amazed and really disturbed at how little I find, or how when I find something, it is either a dead site that does not seem to exist, or a "file not found," or just really old?

What do I and others need to know about speaking up? Does anyone have insights to share?

Meanwhile, I am noticing that published book accounts are still around like The Thread of Gold. I'm wondering what is going on that individual sites disappear, but this forum is around, and these books are around.

This is really concerning. Rarely have I ever seen anything so successful in being completely one-sided on the internet, with inability to find opposing views, or challenges, or even critiques. And of course everything that IS around mostly theological squabbling, but actual accounts and incidents of things that have HAPPENED are so successfully hidden.

It's perhaps the plight of Steve Isitt. Who LSM promised to give a hearing if he removed all his websites exposing Lee & Co. and reneged when he did it. They'll do anything to cover their business, like a cat.

Mysteria, I don't know if you've heard the story: one day in a meeting, Witness Lee brought up those who'd left, and said someone needs to go & help them, find out what happened. Not really sure what he was thinking when he said that.

Well brother Steve Isitt took him at his word, went out & talked to those who'd left & he was expelled from the LSM/lc. Turns out talking about what happened is not allowed.

I read about an American and a Chinese walking down a street in So. Cal. in the mid '60s. The Chinese said, "You really have to watch out for Brother Lee's family", then he immediately clapped his hand over his mouth and said, "I should not have said that."

You see, in Chinese culture it's considered bad form to criticise leaders. Group cohesion and social stability are predicated on the inviolability of authority. In the PRC today you can get fired for publicly criticising Mao, 40 years after his death. You think the Mafia has a code of 'omerta' - you ain't seen nothin'.

So Lee's lieutenants already knew about Timothy & Philip. But it was considered an unforgivable breach of etiquette to talk about it. And this is what Steve Isitt found out, eventually.

What's really telling is when I hear with my own ears brothers praying how they love brothers Steve, but when it comes to meeting with him not a word. You need to understand in the local churches the issue is never love, but trust. If a brother can't be trusted, can't be counted upon, preference is to ignore him.

I don't consider Chinese culture to be inferior to African or European. Surely they haven't got by for thousands of years if it didn't have utility. But it isn't divine.

And the Maximum Brother Can Do No Wrong mentality is quite Chinese. So any history that casts the Max Bro in a bad light simply can't be allowed to exist. To expose Max is an unforgivable crime. Christians may forgive, but the Chinese won't.

And it works, pretty well. It just isn't divine.

If you want some related info, look at the Mainland. When Deng Xiaoping opened China in Dec 1978, LSM operatives went in. Fifteen years later Lee said from the podium that they'd something like 20-odd million adherents. Ten years later LSM spokesman Chris Wilde told us there were none. What happened? Nobody's talking. How they went from zero to 20 million and back to zero - anybody's guess. But nobody seems to want to know.

So that 'inscrutable' stuff has some merit.

Hi Mysteria, As for me, I have 5 websites and tried to basically condense them into two. There is a large amount of material, positive and negative, on lordsrecovery.us and it covers the early years and moves on from there.

Leadersofthelordsrecovery.us and the thread on this forum by that name are loaded with thought-provoking material and legitimate and serious concerns.

I have "parked" three websites.

I want to get one of those sites "unparked" and the other two will take some time, which I have had in mind doing, but you are the only one I have heard from and that now helps me toward getting the sites, or papers, "resurrected".
