I've had discussions with siblings and cousins who were raised in the local churches as I was. Much easier to talk to them than it is my parents, aunt, or my late uncle.
It is really difficult to speak how I really feel about the local churches to my parents. They know I don't meet. Maybe someday soon I will.

Hi,
I believe you have made the right decision to leave the LR and not look back. I am sure God's grace would guide you through this process. Yes, the process is difficult if your parents and spiritual friends and still deep rooted in this cult.

The best way to prevent argument and judgmental talks from LR members is not to announce your departure from the cult. Don't need to say you are leaving. Just stop meeting with them, and if they question you, tell them you need some time off and need personal fellowship with God. The fear and the guilt associated with leaving is characteristic of every cult, and this is one strong evidence that LR is a cult. But through every stage, God is with us.
So just continue to pray, love the Lord, love all regenerated believers irrespective of what group they belong to. Not losing your joy and peace in the Lord even after you leave this group will surely impact your folks in a very positive way.

How To Tell Parents & Family.

Hello,

I've decided to leave the recovery and not look back. I am a young adult, and I am curious if anyone has any experience telling their parents and or family about their decisions. I'm worried that I will lose them as the recovery conditions its members to look down on outsiders and those who have left. I also worry that if I go into details it will turn into an argument rather than a good faith conversation as these people hold the recovery so near and dear to their hearts. Would love to hear what people have to say on how to tell your family / parents about leaving.
