Hello, dear brother UntoHim! Greetings in Christ to you. This is kisstheson, a "voice from the past". I believe it has been ten years since I last posted here!

My family and I were discussing the fact that the annual Family Christian Conference was just held in Farmville, VA, and we were wondering if our dear brother Stephen Kaung was still alive. The results from a quick internet search led me to your post and to the fact that brother Kaung passed away very recently at the age of 107.

Dear brother Stephen Kaung was a huge factor in our being able to completely depart from LSM/Local Churches with our faith and our relationship to the Lord fully intact. Besides the tremendous help I received here on this discussion forum, being able to meet and speak with brother Kaung and many brothers and sisters who appreciated his ministry was a huge help to us. Brother Kaung exhibited such a sweet, Christ-like spirit and lived a life full of self-sacrificial love. In addition, he had a strong zeal for teaching the Bible, and a real burden for reaching out to the lost.

Our beloved Lord arranged things so that we were able to talk several times with brother Kaung's niece, who at the time had recently professed faith in Jesus Christ and been baptized. She told us many stories regarding brother Kaung that were really touching and inspiring. At that time I also purchased many of brother Kaung's books and heard him speak live, and I really appreciated the spirit in which he (and the brothers who co-labored with him) spoke and wrote. This was super important to me at that time because I was desperately trying to convince myself that there were still some precious things worthy of retaining in Watchman Nee's ministry, even if WL and LSM had not remained faithful to those things.

In the roughly ten years since those events, I have moved on from focusing so much on men, MOTA's, ministers, ministries, etc. I have not heard or ready anything from Stephen Kaung in many ears. But back then seeing and fellowshipping with brother Kaung meant everything to me. Here was a co-worker of Watchman Nee who had been in the United States since 1952 and had retained such a Christ-like spirit and such a pure testimony, . After leaving the LC, we were so confused and angry and disoriented. Spiritually speaking, we were thrashing about, desperately trying to find some reasons to not give up on our faith in Jesus Christ. The dear brothers and sisters on this forum, along with dear brother Kaung and those associated with him, were all greatly used by the Lord to encourage us and guide us to a "soft landing", back into a healthy relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ and all His people, after leaving the LC.

Thanks be to God for His faithfulness and His working in brothers like Stephen Kaung. "For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen." (Romans 11:36, NKJV)
