I hope I'm posting this in the right place.
I just wanted to say that I recently read Jane Carole Anderson's book "The Thread of Gold" (available from Amazon!) and it was so helpful! I'd read other accounts that also exposed some of the malfeasance that developed over the years from an initially fresh and encouraging move of the Lord. This longer, more personal and detailed account added to that picture, but here are a couple other ways in which I benefitted from reading it:
1. It helped me to better understand what so strongly attracted my own parents, in-laws, and their peers to the LR in the earlier and more glorious days -- to the extent that they were willing to change their lives, move to other cities, offend family members, etc. By the same token, I could understand a little better why they've hung on despite all the chaos they surely couldn't help noticing over the years. The stakes were just too high.
2. The chapter toward the end where she specifically addresses various teachings of the LR and how she has shifted perspective on them was one of the biggest helps I've received in my recent spiritual journey. For example, her articulations of what it really means to know Christ and Him crucified, and of the difference between "Jesus the living Person I can know intimately" and "the dispensing of the processed Triune God," were just excellent.
3. Overall, just seeing how she experienced the Lord by learning to speak and listen to Him outside of how it was "supposed" to look inspired me greatly. This has been my experience as well, and for many years it made me feel like a sore thumb. I've had to consciously reprogram myself from feeling anxious about praying "natural" or "low" prayers that the Lord might not accept.
Anyway, I don't know whether she is still on this forum, but I wish I could thank her personally. I also wish I could get my mom to read this book! Meanwhile, I do highly recommend it for anyone else who's in the deprogramming process. :-)
